Is that all?!

<ducks>

Nah, looks like some great things will be coming in March!
I know my ranger will take another look at finally learning a combat maneuver. The CHE changes...yikes, the universal ESP net gives me thoughts of Hunt for History, fun!

As for Frostacres, alas, the one premium contest I entered and loss, I shall boycot Boggle's vineyard! <--sore loser.
Otherwise, it seems that the Rest will lose its claim to being the sole tropical locale. ;)

All of this stuff looks great!

My favorites would be:

1. The new combat maneuvers
2. Addition of containers to random treasure
3. Frostacres

Bah! RSN in November...I only see two professions released. I'm guessing Paladin and Monks...and though I'm itching to toy with a Paladin mainly for RP purposes...I've always wanted to be a mind mage, if you will. So, is Savant postponed I take it?

...is sad.

Two professions and three spell lists...

I assume Paladin is spirit and mental? And I'm fairly certain monks are mentalish. Three lists would have to be released for Savants alone (MnM, MjM, Sav) whereas only two need to be released for the other two professions, one of which overlaps both. So, unfortunately, I think your guess is right on.

For Monks and Paladins, paladins are minor spirit and paladin, to come out they need three spell lists (Paladin, Monk, and Minor Mental), so then for Savants to come out they would need two more. I still think your guess is right though.

mostly right...but aren't paladins just physical clerics? (more so than they are already, that is. heh) making them spiritual and arms? Take a ranger...swap hiding/ambush for armor/maybe CM and you have a paladin? thats how i think of em anyhow. :-D

I have no idea. I think I'm almost caught up on all of the changes to the old stuff and maybe the new races, so I haven't really been keeping up too much with the sonewnothereyet professions.

Frostacres transport galore
Long walks are no more
Will get you their with lots of flare
And no chance of arriving bare.

Has another fun second thing
Will Balouga do the damn thing?

I see it more as where you are you have an item or something that takes you to frostacres or the <new name>

Then transports you back to where you were, sort of like a gold ring.......

~Though you could be right and me so very wrong, as i've just become premium and just started caring and paying attention to this stuff.....

Inventory Filters

Are you hiding behind
Piles of fluff you should shed?
Unsure of which armor
Now protects your fair head?
Do you need answers now,
Or you might wind up dead?
Inventory filters
Will palliate your dread.

The INVENTORY command will now allow you to filter your worn items by: ARMOR (list only armor and shields), WEAPONS (list only weapons), COMBAT (list both weapons and armor), CONTAINERS (list items that can hold other items), FLUFF (list non-combat, non-container items), and HANDS (list what you're holding).

What I'd love to see someday is a similar filter when looking at other people--being able to just see 'several tattoos and piercings' instead of five lines worth of them, only seeing armor/weapons/containers (and not jewelry or pins) or even just being able to set an item limit (so I just see the first 10 items and then 'and other items').

There once was a warrior all dressed up in gear
Many sheaths, pouches and pins right there, there and here
Finding anything though was a trouble
So she beamed and clapped double
Looking forward to filtering, oh what a cheer

When you use the "weapons" filter, will it go through your various containers and find all of the weapons that you're carrying? Or only the ones in your hands and worn (like some of the belt-worn weapons that are out there, and shoulder-slung bows, and such)?

If it does dig down through your containers and find everything that you're carrying... does it tell you what the weapon is inside of?

Inv Booze and Inv Food would be handy...maybe Inv Treasure <type> (gems, wands, scrolls, etc).

In addition to your existing list of keywords (armor, weapons, combat [armor+weapons], containers, fluff, hands) may I humbly submit the suggestion, "banknote"?
(Again, this would be if the new command digs down through your containers and tells you everything that you're carrying (and where!), as I just posted regarding weapons.)

Yes, yes; I know all about "wealth" and it telling you how much you're carrying... but many and many's the time I've had wealth tell me that I was carrying a bazillion silvers worth of notes, and I have no freakin' clue which container--or container within a container inside a container held by a container surrounded by a container--it's in.

My last thought on the matter:
Can we please use the filters to look at someone else?

.

I just want to see Jimmyjohn's armor; or his weapons; or whatever... and filter out all that fluffy dreck he's saddled himself with. (Or, vice versa... I may want to see all the nice description fluffy bits that some empath has on, or something.)

LOOK is already one of the most complex verbs we have (think about Features and hidden things and object short/long descs and hyperlinks and...you get the idea). It's almost as long as ATTACK, in lines of code.

It would be nice tho, maybe with INV FLUFF people will begin to realize just how much crap they're wearing...grin...

.

Errr... I thought we were talking about the "inv[entory]" verb, here.
Current implementation: "inv[entory]", no additional parameters.
Proposed implementation: "inv[entory] [armor | weapons | combat (== armor + weapons) | fluff | containers]".
Suggested additions: "inv[entory] [banknotes]"
Extra special requested goodness: "inv[entory] [OtherCharacterName] [any valid category, as above]"

"wealth notes" -- Josh

Yes, but they don't tell me where in my inventory they fall (Are they in my hand? Or are they in the RED sack inside the MITHRIL chest inside the HEAVY backpack inside the WOLFHIDE cloak?).

I thought that was the whole point of the this new "inv"entory.

.

.

Now mind you!

If all the new parameters do is filter the top layer--what is normally visible on a "look"/"inv"--then you can ignore all of my quibbling...
...because none of it is terribly useful. <shrug>

What is useful is recursive drill-down through the items in the inventory, showing what's inside of what (like the locker manifests, or GM-ly "inv"entory commands, do).
