They're like excited kids.

I give my niece a cookie and ten minutes later she wants three more.

Well..."three more" are coming soon, so hopefully y'all can just savor the parry sticks for now while "three more" finish baking.

I know ;)

<<At the same time though... I just don't want it to stop>>

I know that too. We don't either, so we're always looking at things to add and ways to release new things. At the same time, though, we do need some time to finish projects before we leap into new ones. And great goodness, we have an awful lot of projects right now...

If you give an Empath a cookie, she's going to ask for a glass of milk.

Titles for Low-Level Battle Empaths 06/25/2007 07:40 PM CDT
I posted a shorter version of this on the general title suggestion board, but then I realized that there are individual title suggestion boards for each guild. (Feel free to delete the other post.)

There are titles for mid- and high-level battle Empaths (Battle Empath and Kaith Partani), but how about something for aspiring battle puffs? What I was thinking is something along the lines of half the requirements of "Battle Empath."

Combat Medic (or Field Medic or Battle Medic)

At least 70 in Empathy
At least 50 in Evasion
At least 60 in First Aid
At least 40 in Parry Ability or Shield Usage
At least 300 in Total of Valid Survival (w/o Stealing)

(There is already a "Field Medic" under Survival3, but it only incorporates first aid and evasion.)

The Wikipedia article on combat medics is a nice parallel to battle Empaths:

A combat medic is a trained soldier who is responsible for providing first aid and frontline trauma care on the battlefield. . . . Combat medics are normally co-located with the combat troops they serve in order to easily move with the troops and monitor ongoing health.

*

Medical personnel may be armed, but may only use their weapons to protect themselves or the wounded and sick in their care. If they use their arms offensively (i.e. attacking or assaulting), or carry arms that qualify as offensive (such as a sniper rifle, machine gun or grenade launcher), they then sacrifice their protection under the Geneva Conventions.

System Announcement: For Barbarian purposes, the definition of "magic" has been expanded to include the mysteries of "I've got your nose" and "counting past ten." Enjoy!

Ooh or BEIT for Battle Empath in Training. (Any similarity to the word "Bait" is purely coincidental.)

On a more serious note. I like Combat Medic. Some manipulation related titles might be interesting too, though I can't think up anything creative at the moment.

I've been working hard on combats, but I'm still a long way from Battle Empath. It would be nice to have a half-way point.

It would be nice to have titles past battle empath that don't require empathy for 90th. I long passed the combat reqs for kaith partani but don't know that I'll ever actually circle that high, especially without much incentive to do so (spells, abilities).

Forget Kaith Partani. I want Balvbaaris.

Only 1250-some odd ranks to go...

But you're right, some in-betweens would nice.

good job missing the point. I can perceive my way through 30 more circles for a title. Not likely. Besides, kaith partani loses it's shimmer once you've completely passed all the combat reqs.

Since I'm not trying for a custom title anymore...how about "Arms Dealer"?

It could double as a silly battle empath title as well as one who restores lost limbs.

Oh dear.

Why do battle empath type titles HAVE to deal with evasion. Makes it much more difficult for the metal wearers of the group. I noticed they have variations for shield users and parriers, and I know the Survival Set is a big one for us, but would still be nice to hit that title with parry/shield primary defense.

Re: Titles for Low-Level Battle Empaths 07/01/2007 10:30 AM CDT
I kinda agree with having more titles that didn't deal so much in evasion. I wear HP, HC and LC in rotation so help learn evasion, but as a long time lover of wearing HP I'd like to see some titles dealing with Empaths like that.

Like:
Martyr of Defense
Shield Empath

stuff like that, the names I suggested are kind of stinky, but I would like to see more of that.

Are new titles anytime soon on the horizon? We were teased with the possibility around Simucon last year, but they never materialized. Its kind of funny that our guru was in charge of Titles and we have one of the slimmest lists to choose from.

I'd like to suggest that the combat requirements on the combat empath titles be raised to be more in line with the Empathy requirements. Give us something to shoot for. There's no reason the bar should be set so low.
