Sword-of-Phoen 12/21/2016 11:16 AM CST
Maybe an weird question - but I did get the sword-of-Phoen for a Phoen paladin that I play. I am just curious the origins of the name of this weapon. Why is sword-of-Phoen an alternative name for a Flamberge? Was that an arbitrary decision from the way back, or is their a story/reason as to why?

Also, just an item note - I have yet to discover and "hidden" abilities with the weapon. 7x with three types of rotating flares is very fun though. Of course I was hoping to find an undisclosed raise my sword ability that killed every undead with rays of sunlight in the land simultaneously. Only for Phoen paladins - of course! Or at least cancel out those darkness discs :)

Kidding aside - thank you GMs for a fun and memorable event...wonderfully done.

I think a flamberge is alternatively known as a Sword-of-Phoen due to the wavy nature of the blade resembling a stylized ray of sunshine.

We added a number of new weapon nouns, and as DERPALLARDIE stated, it's due to the nature of the wavy blade. Same with a few of the new Arkati-named weapon nouns.

sidearm-of-Onar (dagger)
Hammer of Kai (base)
staff-of-Lumnis (runestaff)
Niima's-embrace (short sword)
sword-of-Phoen (flamberge)
