What are your favorite Convert choices as far as how they affect our spells? And why?

In general the differences between flares barely matter.

Mechanically Arachne probably gives you the best flare type (unbalance) since if it's not dead it's handy to have it knocked over. Conversely as a matter of personal preference I think Marlu and Jastev have the best messaging. It pains me that Jastev is steam flares though which are maybe the only ones underpowered enough to matter mechanically. Would love to see an option to revert to the default un-converted plasma flares but keep the Jastev messaging.

The flares occurring on the secondary crit means there are very few instances where the deity flares have any meaningful impact. I suggest picking your deity based on RP rather than mechanics. The difference between the "best" and "worst" flare is negligible, provided the target can be crit killed or are not immune to the secondary flare.

As long as minmaxers exist, they will make choices for mechanical reasons.
