Almost there.. 11/21/2011 04:35 AM CST
I was going to wait until I had full mastery, but I couldn't help but want to share my latest rank-up.

As you attack, your boarding axe seems to tug at your hand, as if subtly guiding your strike!
You swing a rolaren boarding axe at a storm giant!
AS: +299 vs DS: +84 with AvD: +29 + d100 roll: +17 = +261
... and hit for 73 points of damage!
Knocked back several feet by blow to abdomen.
You feel your spiritual bond with your boarding axe strengthen.
You feel your spiritual bond with your boarding axe strengthen.
[You have earned 95 prestige points.]
The storm giant howls in agony one last time and dies.
The powerful look leaves a storm giant.
The light blue glow leaves a storm giant.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 3 seconds.

>cman bond info
You are bonded with the boarding axe. It is a tried and true friend.

Only two more ranks to go for full mastery.

Bonding is fun. The one I remember is the first time it jumped back into my hand. A dobrem disarmed me and it didn't do the dobrem any good at all.

More sharing and a question.

I loved when this happened the first time and the bond flares went off together.

As you attack, your boarding axe seems to tug at your hand, as if subtly guiding your strike!
You swing a rolaren boarding axe at a frost giant!
AS: +301 vs DS: +285 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +59 = +107
... and hit for 2 points of damage!
Flashy swing!
Too bad it only bopped the frost giant's nose.
As you attack, your boarding axe seems to tug at your hand, as if subtly guiding your strike!
You swing a rolaren boarding axe at a frost giant!
AS: +296 vs DS: +285 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +64 = +107
... and hit for 2 points of damage!
Glancing blow to the frost giant's right leg!
Roundtime: 6 sec.

Which brings me to my question. When I finally do get to rank 5, what suggestions for what option to set my bond at? Four strikes sounds fun, but so does the thought of two unblockable and unparryable strikes.

I've always liked the double strike, most of the time EBP isn't an issue unless I'm mstriking and bonding flares don't help there. Most warriors I know also use the double strike, not often anyone uses something else unless they aren't fully bonded yet.

While there are niche situations where others are better, I just set it to double strike and left it. Whacking something twice is a lot more satisfying than those effects that you are never quite sure whether it actually did something for you or not when it goes off.

You should get more practice on your tricks. A half decent feint first and you would have that giant's DS down to where you actually did it some damage when swung at it.

So I finally made rank 5 bond and on further thought and advice I set it to double swing.

Took a few tries, but here's the first shot of both weapons flaring.
