Sorry if this has been started elsewhere...
Not sure what exactly happen, but there's been a bunch of talk "elsewhere" about the wiki requiring a login to view things. Not sure if this is a technical issue or an intended one. If it is an intended one, I, personally, think it is a bad idea. This is a great resource, in my opinion, for new players to come and learn about the game. When they see all the work done there and helpful guides players have created, I think that would only encourage their interest in playing.
Here's to hoping it is a technical issue. I also have trouble with searching again. It will find certain things, but some items either aren't on there any longer or are not getting connected. I tried to search for information ion Four Winds where it used to come up on the old krakii, I get nothing on the gswiki.
Thanks

There are now (at least) three threads on it. I say that as a point of information, not a mockery etc. (It also shows that this is a wide-spread concern.)
The most relevant one is here: http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone%20IV/Software%20&%20Hardware%20Help/WIKI%20Discussions/thread/1698720
(There is now a WIKI subtopic here.)
The relevant post is from Wyrom:
>I'm checking to see what changed.
>The 7 day login is intended, but I don't know about the read-only issues right now.
So, Wyrom, e.g. uberbossman of GS, is looking into it.
My sense, for a number of reasons, is this was an unintentional or temporary change. Let's be realistic: if it was intended, firstly it should have been announced, and secondly it wouldn't direct you to the Main Page and force you to search for your page again.
Anyway, not a single player has supported this change. It's entirely ridiculous for a load of reasons.
For now, if your computer is secure and private (not a public one) with a static IP, go ahead and do the 7-day login. I expect by the time you have to login again it will be resolved.

PS: Use your play.net account and password to login. It's already set up with an account I think (not sure for F2P but, anyway). Your user-name may be case-sensitive (MediaWiki tends to be case-sensitive by default), so enter it in all caps.
I explained that, but at the moment you might not be able to even access it!!!

Ah, there we go. Thanks Daid. I didn't see this when I was posting - and lucky to find the 'web discussion' folder. :-)
The log in doesn't bother me at all, I'm always logged in to it anyway. I just thought for those browsing around so that they know there is a good bit of help out there. And also for the people who contribute to it and all of the time they've put in to make it such a invaluable resource.
