Part of the fear of using thrown weapon is the obvious chance of impaling a monster, a monster stealing yer weapon when it's down or the game crashing losing your weapon. If that fear could be mitigated (not talking about making stock weapons return to your hand) then more folk might give this weapon style a chance.
