No where to buy a Premium home in Ta'Illistim 10/13/2017 11:35 AM CDT
Hi, I wanted to buy a home in Highpark Estates but found it full; same with Tyramia Hollow. The Ta'Illistim Premium neighborhoods are a DEAD ZONE. I've been trying to get help with this over in the Premium folder for 3 weeks to no avail. The only GM feedback I received was (paraphrasing) "Premium Homes is an un-maintained legacy system and it's killed GMs who tried."

However, I've heard from a few different folks that other players have been able to get GMs to "free up some space" for them in the past. I asked for this in the Premie folder, and even offered to even design some rooms that could be added but have gotten no further response. So does the entire system require an overhaul to add a single house into a room?? Is that GM's statement the final straw? Is there literally nothing that can be done?

I'm horribly frustrated by the lack of positive resolution on this matter. Premium Homes were the sole reason I upgraded to premium and am not inclined to keep the premium membership if I can't obtain a house here.

Premium homes cannot be freed up if the owner is an active subscriber. There is then a grace period you have after you deactivate your account where you can get your home back.

I'm not sure who told you we could free up a home for someone though. Seems you got either bad information or there was something else involved with a misunderstanding

Hi Wyrom, there are several rooms in Highpark Estates showing under five homes. A few have just two and some even have six!

Supposedly the ones with few homes are filled with abandoned homes that get hidden from view. Therefore, active accounts' homes do not account for the dearth in availability here. Am I wrong in that?

Here are a bevy of examples:

[Highpark Lane - 13327]
The cobbled walk travels through lush green lawns dotted with the stately forms of venerable oaks and sycamores. Here and there, the rooftops of large residences are visible, their privacy guarded by extensive gardens, shrubs and rock walls. Birds of all types are plentiful, as are squirrels that dash from tree to tree in bounding leaps. You also see a rustic riverstone cottage and a cozy white wooden cottage.
Obvious paths: northeast, east, west

[Highpark Lane, Gardens - 13328]
Highpark Lane approaches a heavily wooded area to the east, where the dark trunks of ancient trees punctuate the woodland landscape beneath a canopy of green. The carefully tended lawn is dotted with several teak benches, and statuary stands in reverent attitudes here and there. You also see an ivy-covered white stone domicile, a stately grey granite villa, a gated cherrywood villa and a plain villa.
Obvious paths: east, west
[Highpark, Ridge Ramble]
The Ramble threads between low stone walls holding the prolific blooms of garden beds at bay. Clouds of butterflies float over the flowers and squirrels scamper in leaps between the trunks of ornamental trees. The lane travels steadily upward to the north, skirting the base of a landscaped hill dotted with statuary and graceful homes. You also see a plain chalet and a plain chateau.
Obvious paths: north, southwest

>n
[Highpark, Ridge Ramble - 13334]
The low walled lane travels around the perimeter of a large ornamental pond, its border a scalloped edging of smooth stone. Lily pads dot the calm surface of the water and dragonflies dart back and forth on their translucent wings. Peacocks stroll on a lawn in the distance, their progress punctuated by displays of plumage. You also see a white-veined black marble chalet and a fel-gabled riverstone chateau.
Obvious paths: south, northwest

[Highpark, Fairview Circle - 13339]
A long row of terracotta pots line the circular lane as it traverses the large residences on its perimeter. Small ornamental maple trees are planted in many of the pots, their lacy red foliage a nice contrast to the flowering plants occupying the other containers. You also see an ivy-covered mahogany wood villa, a plain vicarage and a rustic white sandstone chateau.
Obvious paths: east, southeast

[Highpark, Fairview Circle - 13340]
An ornamental pond occupies the northeast edge of the sculptured gardens, its surface almost covered with water lilies. From its center, a statue of a fish spouts a fountain of water, throwing off rainbows in the light. A row of statues opposite it carry on the aquatic theme, displaying forms of leaping dolphins and curled seahorses. You also see a stately white sandstone chalet, a teak-gabled grey stone chalet and a plain villa.
Obvious paths: southwest, west
>

[Highpark, Woodland Lane - 13329]
Woodland Lane branches off of Highpark Lane with a small pond marking the demarcation. From the pond's center spurts a fountain, its diminutive arc creating a gentle cascade of falling water. To the north, as the lane travels between noble residences, twin rows of graceful Illistim maples provide a leafy canopy overhead. You also see an ivy-covered riverstone lodge, a rune-carved black marble rectory, a plain chateau and a plain lodge.

The imposing homes dotting the slopes of Nob Hill display the height of elven architecture, with imposing facades and sculpted gardens at their foot. Fountains are plentiful, throwing water droplets into the air from a host of fanciful forms. The cobblestone lane climbs to the south, rounding the hill as it goes. You also see an elaborate white marble chateau, a large white marble chalet and a teak-gabled white marble villa.
Obvious paths: up, down

[Highpark, Nob Hill - 13450]
Where the cobblestone lane turns a corner, an imposing marble statue guards the curve. High above on its pedestal, the muscular figure of a man battles a rearing steed, its mane, tail and curled forelegs creating lyrical harmonies of curve and balance. Houses watch the frozen tableau, their facades as timeless as the eternal struggle they observe. You also see an ancient white marble villa, a blue-trimmed white sandstone chateau, a plain villa and a plain house.
Obvious paths: east, down

[Highpark, Nob Hill - 13451]
Rounding a large garden, the lane passes through a promenade of columns, athletic statuary posed on each pillar. The silent figures stand in attitudes of action, as if frozen during some long-ago event. Just inside the perimeter of marble guards, hedges have been trimmed into tall, thin fingers of green, their forms as elegant as the sculpture they escort. You also see an elaborate white marble villa and a teak-gabled white stone chateau.
Obvious paths: north, west

---

And here's two with SIX homes in it. How odd.

[Highpark Lane, Hill View - 13330]
The lane curves from a heavy canopy of trees to the west, and veers around the base of a tall hill to the east. Gardens to either side offer a profusion of blooms that scent the air with a heady perfume. Farther up the elevation, tall white columns and towering trees accent the hillside, alternating with gardens and terraced waterfalls, as well as beautiful villas and palazzos. You also see a blue-trimmed white sandstone chalet, an ivy-covered polished marble chateau, an ivy-covered mahogany wood chateau, a hand-fitted riverstone chalet, an expansive polished marble chateau and a plain chateau.
Obvious paths: southeast, west

[Highpark, Terraced Garden - 13332]
A terraced garden stretches away from the lane, its central nave covered with gravel and bordered on each side by a perfectly groomed lawn. At the far point of the promenade is a circular garden guarded by the slender figure of a marble nymph. The alluring fragrance of lilies growing at her feet reaches out to the lane. You also see a plain villa, an ivy-covered riverstone chalet, a cedar-gabled pale stone manse abloom with wisteria vines, a plain lodge, a plain chateau and a stately black marble chateau.
Obvious paths: northeast, west

Not odd at all, not all rooms in a neighborhood support 6 homes. Are you able to see an abandoned home in any of those rooms? They stay in the room, and you can interact with it.

I just spent the last 20 minutes going through both those areas you posted about, and I do not see any free homes or abandoned ones. I even went as far as checking each owner of each home to see if they were on an active (or recently active) account.

No, I can't find any physical 'abandoned home' type item to interact with. So if there's clearly a dearth of actual homes as well, are all these rooms with less than 6 homes specifically designed to only allow 2, 3, 4, and 5 instead? Is that a specific room setting? If so, can it be changed for a few of the rooms? I am happy to pop in game and show you what I'm referring to.

We cannot expand the Premium home system in its current state. There is no simple room setting or a number to increase to add anything more. The numbers in each room are directly tied to a much larger internal system.

Please confirm I have this right: there is nothing staff can do to resolve the issue and therefore, no one will ever be able to obtain a new Premium home in Ta'Illistim? Is that an accurate statement?

You can try to buy one off another player.

We have dozens of neighborhoods. The two neighborhoods you've pointed out are some of the highest traffic spots in the entire game (for Premium Homes). You will only be able to get one when one becomes available. They do get abandoned every now and then. I show 3 of them being purchased this year.

This isn't an issue though, and there isn't anything to resolve. The system is working as intended. You're in a highly demanded area due to location. Most the upper class homes are claimed in game by active players. That's been the case since this system was launched.

Tamuz said there is no automatic eviction process for homes. Can you please help me understand mechanisms that frees up houses so I can figure out how to (maybe someday) score one of these coveted properties before someone else does? At the end of the day it's impossible for me to utilize this premium benefit because the supply does not meet demand and there apparently isn't a mechanism that will allow staff to respond favorably, as I understand it so far.

My character doesn't live in the west, she lives in the east. I can't buy a house in Ta'Vaalor nor Zul Logoth due to restrictions; my only option on this side of the world is Ta'Illistim. Why would I buy a house in Wehnimer's Landing (if one could even be found), for example, when I will never go there? Also, I find it very curious that HighPark Estates, some of the homes are owned by characters who aren't eligible to buy homes in Ta'Illistim.

It disappoints me that you don't see a problem with any of this.

I want to buy a house in Beverly Hills, but dang it, none of them are for sale.

When one comes on the market, I have--and everybody else has!--the opportunity to snap it up.

Same same in GemStone.

Where is the mystery here?

(repost because math fail)

Thanks Robert... GS's Beverly Hills (Highpark Estates) was supposed to have race covenants that restrict ownership to TI full or partial citizens. I found homes owned there by half-elves, giants, humans, and IIRC, a dark elf. None of those races are allowed any form of citizenship in Ta'Illistim, so why do they get homes there?

Further, there are homesites missing from the neighborhood. In 2004, there were 93 homes in Highpark Estates based on Tsoran's map. I just went and counted, there are now 71 homes. Wyrom stated there are no abandoned homes hiding in the neighborhood. Where did the other 22 homes go and why aren't they available for purchase? Is it a bug preventing abandoned homes from popping back up for sale? Something seems off.

Tamuz said there's no automated process to clear out homes, while Wyrom alluded to some mechanism whereby homes can come up again for sale since 3 had just been purchased this year. I'd like clarification on that so maybe I can understand why there are only 71 homes in a neighborhood that used to allow 93, and also why ineligible characters have homes here too.

Automatic evictions have been turned off for over 10 years. The former SGM that oversaw the Premium and Platinum teams ended up freeing up homes a long time ago (again, over 10 years ago), but it looks like that caused bugs that the system still hasn't recovered from to this day.

A house count from 2004 isn't something we could honor 13 years later. I don't see there being more homes in the last 10 years, so it's difficult to know what might have happened.

We'll investigate it more, but upper class homes were always intended to be very limited and more expensive.

As a possible thought since that is full in TI, perhaps there is a home on Mist Harbor instead? Since you're premium to get the home anyway, you would have access to there. It also means you could do things there regardless of town you are in.

Obviously there are many RP background issues that might effect it, but it could be a possible solution to the home part at least.

Regarding the neighborhoods; it's possible to interact with an abandoned home, even though you can't see one. It's the only way to know if there's actually an available facade in the room. Back when we built the system 20 years ago, there were no automatic recovery methods, so I have no idea how the system changed in that 10 year period (to 2007) when someone else created the decay mechanics. I was able to move a home from a neighborhood near WL out of town wilds, to an IN town neighborhood just recently. I realize this isn't Illistim, but I found the room I ended up in by "tap"ing abandoned homes. You have to figure out which default facades exist for the neighborhood (e.g. cottage, chateau, home, etc.) and try to find them that way.

Remember, not all rooms will have 5-6 facades in them to begin with, so just because you only see 4 houses in a room, that doesn't mean an abandoned 1 or 2 exist there. They can't just add a facade to a room either. The system will never recognize it as an available home.

Wyrom, thank you - I look forward to hopefully being able to claim one of those 22 missing homesteads someday!
