Hi all!
I've been doing a fair amount of alchemy, and I'm beginning to realize I need some basic proficiency in foraging. I'm not necessarily looking to be a fantastic forager. I'm more aiming to not be an absolutely awful one.
So, does anyone have a good sense for the amount of survival training it would take to at least be "decent" at foraging? I've been reading old posts, the wiki, and other sites, but I haven't found a good answer...at least for an Empath. Anyone know from experience?
Thanks!
J

You get a bonus as an empath. Pretty much everything you need to know is here:

(from the page)
- 3 ranks of Survival count for +1 Foraging
- 15 skill bonus of Perception count for +1 Foraging
In my experience the more difficult alchemy herbs are in the +150 foraging difficulty range (which is to say you would need a 150+ open roll to find it without any bonuses). You get about +50 bonus for free just for profession, stats, kneeling, open hands. At that point you still need a 100+ open roll. If you can manage to pick up another +30 bonus between Survival and Perception you'll be able to get a successful forage about a third of the time which is certainly good enough.
