Block the Elements (eblock) 09/21/2013 12:03 PM CDT

For those folks wondering if SHIELD eblock will protect against the dying fire mage flares or not.

The fire mage looks upon you with utter hatred. Flames shoot from her eyes and engulf you!
You manage to block some of the elemental damage with your eonake scaled greatshield!
... 10 points of damage!
Burst of flames to neck chars skin. Yuck!
You are stunned for 1 round!

That above was with 1 rank of training.

Does anyone have action shots of eblock in action against crystal weapons in OTF? Wondering if eblock makes OTF huntable as a square without an insane offensive DS.

What do you consider insane offensive DS? I was comfortable hunting in OTF with 400, I had that being 202 thw, 202 dodge, 7x armor, 20 AGL, 401, 406, 414, 503, 103, 202, 601, small statue, and courage for DS.

I also know of other people who had hunted in OTF with less spells and DS, they just had to be a lot more careful while hunting.

Ack, I overwrote my paste to my spread sheet for T1 Voln armor actions, but eblock definitely works against Vvreal Witch elemental casts.

Until you get to around 450 there's a significant chance that you'll just get instantly killed without warning by a scout ambush / flare. Some days that's better than being eaten by a rift crawler, though!

I hunted there on and off for many months with my DS at 400 and in all my time hunting there no more then a handful of deaths came from crystal flares. Maybe I was just lucky or something, I have no idea, I just watched out for crystal weapons and never engaged scouts unless I had to. Of course these days when I hunt in OTF my DS is 480 or better depending on how lazy I am being.
