Any warriors out there using a bow? I am considering some diversification and am interested in the less obvious routes. Never fear. Will still be claid bashing and kicking. I'm adventerous not delusional!

I know of three warriors that use bows. They seem to do well with them and although its not the usual route its certainly do able. And like you, for them its mostly a second attack form. You are ,of course, going to want to train in ranged, then max perception if you haven't already, followed by training up ambush in all likely hood because it adds to ranged AS as well.

Kerl trains in thrown as a primary/secondary attack.

My warrior Lucarin trains in thrown/twc as his only attack.

Few other warriors do thrown as a secondary skill.

Thrown, without a returner or bandolier, isn't really a viable hunting style, imho. Met uses thrown as an invasion secondary when there's something really tough that needs to die. Warriors are pretty much always going to get better AS with thrown, due to the CMAN contribution to thrown's AS, which doesn't show up in archery's. However, archery has, hands-down, better defense.

Well how about that. I was thinking of using a bow and have been fortunate to acquire one. I am currently reading everything I can get my hands on about use of bows. One question though - can multi-strike be used with a bow?

I suppose, if you're using it like a quarterstaff. :)

Better option is to use multi-fire.

At least once. Maybe twice. Then you'll probably put it away and look for other things to train.

Mfire is generally reckoned to be pretty rubbish because it can't be aimed and has horrendous RT. Many people can shoot single aimed shots at a faster average speed than mfire unaimed shots.

Even worse, its a Cman, so you have to give up a useful Cman in order to learn it. If you are having a bow phase, you probably should learn multifire, but don't expect to be impressed by it.

What I want to know is, what happens when you berserk with a bow?

I would have to imagine you either attack with the arrow in Melee, or the bow.

Get a bunch of haste imbeds and kill things in 1 Second RT by aiming at eyes.

yep, I can confirm. You attack with the longbow as if it's a quarterstaff.

Just thought I'd provide an update regarding my exploits using a bow as a supplementary form of hunting.

It didn't work out. Using an ebow was fun in theory but I spent more time worried about being disarmed and losing it in the Teras Temple than I did about hunting styles. And of course when I did eventually got disarmed, I found myself chasing the thieving critter in order to retrieve it. I sold it shortly thereafter.

I've decided to leave the bows to rangers and to stick to what I'm good at.

eek!
Useful information but why swing a stick when you can swing something with a sharp edge or thrust something with a pointy end!

I think the point of that was so you could use that information and bond with your bow of choice so you don't have those disarm woes.

Is it even possible to bond with a bow? Oh, and ebows are totally awesome in warcamps. None of those pesky arrows lying everywhere, and no disarming!

Because, Bremerial, there's nothing more satisfying than BOPPING, BOPPING, BOPPING the beelzebub out of a brown boar's belfry with a short bow! ;)

Ahh. Therein lies the rub! The bow was only ever meant to be a tertiary method of attack, so bonding was never an option. (Actually didn't think you could bond with a bow, even as a beating stick. Has that changed while I was snoozing?)

Hypothetically, a warrior could wbond a bow yes? The question that springs to mind is: do they need to get the kills to bond with it via melee, basically requiring them to train in THW in addition to range, or THW then fixskills to range; or can they get the kills via firing the bow? In any case, with either a lot of tedious killing with a crappy quarterstaff, or a lot of easy killing with a ridiculous ebow, I think you could make your ebow disarm resistant. Alternatively, isn't a warrior mastered in guild disarm with rank 5 uncanny defense pretty friggin hard to disarm?

Random thoughts. Played lots of ranged characters, never a warrior though.
