Where have these been all my life? I never really thought about having greaves (or a suit of armor that covered the legs) that had flares. This was one of the better flares I've got from sweeping these pesky bats. I blinded one just a bit ago, which was nice.
I came across these at the pawn shop in Solhaven. I also picked up a set of spike leg greaves, too, but I haven't tested them out yet since they apply a -10 to the maneuver because they're spiked. I cant afford to miss my sweeps anymore often then I already do since I'm up hunting by about 3-4 levels and they cast mean CS spells if they catch me off guard (most of the time I can counter the CS spells with Shield Mind).
Are there any other interesting skills that rogues make use of with items that flare, that I need to look into?

Appropriate gear will flere with all contact cmans/guild skills. This might be a weapon or UAC gear or armor depending on the manoever. In guild skills you can get flares on subdue and cheapshots as well as tackle.
If you want to use spikes and have CMan points, you can spend some on spike focus to reduce or eliminate the penalty. There are almost certainly better things to get than the ability to use spiked gear without penalty though.
The only situation I used spikes for sweep was master reps on a master that I didn't like. And since I'm on a -20 rather than the +5 bonus due to racial size, I don't use sweep for anything but RP reasons.
