Gleaming white ora pike 01/23/2007 08:58 PM CST
So I am wondering about the 'gleaming white ora pike's around. Namely: are these 4x and flaring in the hands of an empath? I know they are not sanctified, and not blessable...

They are indeed sanctified weapons which would be difficult to test if you are an Empath. The pikes are actually modified lances and not awl-pikes. As a group, those white ora weapons are more commonly known as Iasha White Ora Weapons, having to do with the merchant that released them.

They are, for the most part, 4x.

Although anyone can use them, their ability to remain/hold a bless will only be active in the hands of a Cleric or Paladin. Furthermore, the plasma flares that come with this weapon will only activate when used by a Cleric or Paladin.

Aside from this, Cleric and Paladin wielders give this weapon some nifty ambient scripts. For the most part, the pike will appear to be in flames. This ambient messaging will remain inactive or deactivate when touched by another profession, until another Cleric or Paladin picks it up.

These weapons also had a series of scripts that could be activated with certain commands. Tier 1 had a couple, Tier 2 had the remaining scripts. There were also several Tier 3 weapons raffled off that maintained all scripts but also had the ability of transporting its user once a day to the appropriate shrine of his/her deity.

The Tier 3 weapons varied in enchant, being 6x for the most part. The Tier 3 pike, specifically, was either 4x or 5x.

Ah! yes, the Iasha White Ora weapon. I was told that it WOULD flare for an empath, although it would not be blessed or blessable in my hands? Is this incorrect?

My paladin has one of these; the plasma flares are nice, and seem to come on the average of every 3 hits, as opposed to the more usual 5. It occasionally does things on its own, but I haven't found anything yet as far as scripted commands I can activate.

I'd like to learn a bit more about the Iasha weapons; I understand they come locked and unlocked. What is the difference there, and how to tell?

The difference is basically with the scripts. I think the locked ones only have a few scripts, with the unlocked once having several. Also some of the Iasha weapons are 5X, with a few being 6X with once a day transport to your dieties temple. If your diety does not have a temple, I believe it transports you to the closest one.

Locked and unlocked ...

Unlocking means you had Iasha unlock the scripts. All of his lesser weapons have the same abilities (flares, sancted). But they vary in enchant.

As far as the greater weapons. There was something missing that no one mentioned.

they're all 6x
plasma flares
unlocked scripting
sancted
1x/day teleport
+3 wis stat/bonus (permanent)

I can't remember for sure, but they may have a mana/spirit regen bonus, I'll have to test mine out tonight to be sure.

The 5x weapons were raffled off as well. But you had to have purchased one previously.

The 6x greater ones were all raffled off, and he created them.

If your diety doesn't have a temple in the town, then you get sent to the in town temple.

But will it flare for an empath?

Probably not, but test it out.

Hmmm, it won't flare on undead obviously, since you can't hit them at all; live foes I am not sure of at all. I have a polearm using bard, but she's using a sonic lance; I suppose I could transfer it to her and check it out, but I am too lazy. Heh, swing it at a live foe 5-6 times (stance down so you don't kill it on the first few hits); if it doesn't flare, the answer is probably no.

When you look at the weapon as a cleric/paladin, it'll show that there is fire surrounding it. I don't remember the exact words. When given to anyone else(non cleric/paladin) the fire dies and you're left with a plain weapon. The same would happen to an empath so it is safe to infer that it will not flare.

Every now and then, it does something on it's own. For example:

>>The flames surrounding your white ora pike swirl around and a low murmuring can be faintly heard. You think one of them was, "Release."<<

>>Burning low, the flames encasing your white ora pike emit an angry hiss.<<

Looking at it ...

>>> look pike
The white ora pike is surrounded by a pure white flickering flame that burns with the rage of divine fury.<<

But, I have tried a number of verbs, and nothing seems to produce an action. I have tried the commoner ones: poke, prod, lean, tap, turn, wave, raise and rub, with no result. Anyone know what, if any, verbs might be used with these?

I held a falchion and the flame did die, leaving me to think it might not flare. I could not swing the weapon as it was bonded. I'm leary of spending my only million on a lovely pretty pike if it won't flare :)

Hmm, don't buy it. You can't hit undead in either case, so you could only use it vs live foes. Get a lance and have it e-bladed ... voila! Instant 4x flaring weapon.

P.S. You were being overcharged in any event, unles it's an unlocked weapon. I asked in the marketplace folder, and was told that a locked Iasha lance would be worth maybe 500,000.

I have a kroll-skulled vultite pike that I use for hunting undead. I want something flaring for when I'm in the Rest and have nothing to hit. And white ora is just /nice/, from an RP perspective. But I don't think I'll get it.
