Elemental Strike (415) 01/09/2017 09:30 AM CST
As previously announced, Elemental Strike's (415) lore crit will no longer hit the same target as the base spell. It was a bug that we allowed to persist as we worked on a number of wizard enhancements, which have since been completed.

Thank you for the update. We knew it was coming, but thanks for letting us know before someone came in to complain it was no longer striking a single target twice.

However, this wizard is still patiently waiting on Enchant update (quickly flees to avoid any unwelcomed lightning bolts).

When you say we knew this was coming, speak for yourself! Glad I only did 10 ranks of fire lore instead of 35 on the fixskill, which I did like two days ago.

It was mentioned some time ago (most likely only in one of the Wizard's folder), 8-12 months back that it was a known bug and would be resolved once other wizard updates were in place.

Well, it hasn't joined 409 in the grave of "terribad spells that are only good when krolvin warfarers cast it at unsuspecting warriors."

I had to look 409 up to see what it actually was.

Don't feel bad. I have to do that with a few spells every now and then.

As for 409, the only time I make use of it is imbedding it in rods for my pure bard to make use of. Then again, now that 502 is CS based, it tends to be just as useful for him, plus I can imbed more charges in each rod.

So, it's a spell that most people don't make use of anymore.

A shame then because it can be very deadly on a very low endroll with it's impact crit table, especially when it hits head/neck.

I died a few times to fetish masters in the Scatter to under 110 rolls before raising my TD and getting impact resistance.

Hell, I've killed myself since using it to test TD finds.

Roblar don't start rumors about the lethality of 409!

This is a quote from 415, from the officials:

"the severity of the flare is based on the degree of the warding failure, and is more powerful than Elemental Blast."

Ha, I know it was under 110, and more than once! Because it pissed me off.

It could have been 415 but I went off this and assumed 409, unless the caster was attuned to earth, but I think that is recent and not sure if creatures have that opttion.

Why not just have your bard cast 409?

It used to pretty much kill or limb almost anything with a 145+ endroll if I remember correctly, at least in GS3.

Then Simu gave us crit randomization and ruined everything. :(

Hasn't learned it yet, plus it can be mana intensive when you only have 120 mana to use.

Maybe 409 would be better if they just LOWERED THE MANA COST. Why do you gotta make it be 9 mana just because its a 9th level spell? Seems like it is comparable to 502, 702, smite/bane, etc., so it could be say a 5 mana spell. Boom, sucky spell fixed...
