520 (Mage Armor) and 517 (Charge Item) 08/08/2017 11:21 PM CDT
Both of these spells have had minor tweaks.

Mage Armor has had it's messaging updated to help the caster determine which aspect is currently active and to be more interesting.

Charge item can now be cast at magic items to allow the caster to determine if an item is mage rechargeable, and to allow the mage to determine chances of success in successfully charging the item. Special note: charge status is only relevant to magic items, not gems.

I really, really like this. Thanks Viduus!

FYI, though, sometimes the description isn't matching the gender.

Heavy sparks dance around Dazmar as wisps of electricity travel up and down her body.
You see Dazmar Ver'Shai the War Mage.
He appears to be a Faendryl Dark Elf.

This is a brilliant change however it seems to be bugged on some items

>prep 517
You recite a series of mystical phrases while raising your hands, invoking Charge Item...
Your spell is ready.
>cast wand
You gesture at a metal wand.
This item is rechargeable.
You'd have a better chance of surviving a meteor swarm than charging this.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

at level 100), your current skill bonuses and ranks
Magic Item Use.....................| 302 202
Major Elemental....................| 100

You estimate you're skilled enough to push this item to a great many charges total, and it appears to be in good shape.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Mage armor was drunk and went home.

It's less confused by genders now that it's sober.

I need more information than your clips currently provide.

Were the first and second mages casting at the same wand?
Was the first mage encumbered/injured/badly located?
Was the first wand completely charged or mostly charged?

That's odd. At first glance, you should be getting the great many charges message. There may be something messing up that specific character's reading - like bad code! If you don't mind I'd like to observe your cast on it. I'll drop you an email to arrange a mutual time over the next few days.

Nice job on the 520 messaging. :D The lightning one in particular pleases me to no end. Thanks!

Awesome! Anyway to also change the 405 "recharged to original capacity" message to make it more obvious its not about rechargables? Also - possible to add gems detection to this spell?

As a follow up question - I'm not sure if you're willing to do this, but is there a way for Wizard's with charge item + say 10 water lore to be able to get some of this messaging in 405? My issue here is that i will naturally cast 405 on an item to see if i should sell it but i'm very unlikely (not to mention mana intensive) to randomly cast 517 on each item to confirm its not rechargable...

It'll be great if 405 can give a hint of something about it and then 517 will then be used to get more detailed info.

I like the change to 520 but is there chance we can toggle on/off the "A layer of water surrounds xxxxxxxx and ripples with each movement." line like hiding the adventure guild badge without having to remove the spell entirely?

Not at this time.

This isn't something that will happen. Gem detection is strictly bard domain.

This issue should now be fixed, let me know if you guys see any more oddness.

Wouldn't that mean you can easily survive every Meteor Swarm, which means they should be able to charge that wand up with no problems? :/

I'm a huge fan of the 520 new look messaging, except in the case of my main character who already has an amazing custom illusion message (best capping present ever). I already tried switching from fire to electricity, but now both have the word dance. Grrrr. Pretty please can we get a flag to turn off this beautiful messaging and still retain 520, so as not to conflict with other pre-established features/illusions? Please!

Heavy sparks dance around Treeva as wisps of electricity travel up and down her body.
You see High Lady Treeva Ancalime Illistim the Mage of the Flame.
She appears to be an Elf.
Blah, blah blah, so many features...
Crackling flames dance along her body in fiery hues tinged with emerald.
Clothes

It looks super dopey right now :( I'm crying inside.
