Rapid Fire (515) Cooldown 11/21/2016 09:33 PM CST
Rapid Fire's (515) cooldown formula has been updated to reduce the 90 second cooldown by 1 second per 2.2 ranks of Elemental Mana Control. So at 100 ranks of EMC, the cooldown is only 45 seconds. At 200 ranks, there is no cooldown.

Long overdue. Thank you very much. Can this be refreshed before dropping?

I feel like this much sought after change deserves our thanks. I will consider it an early Festivus present. Thank you.

Very nice Estild. After all the negativity we've seen over some of these changes I hope we see a lot of wizards giving thanks for this one.

As someone who was hugely and loudly against the cooldown on 515, I'll be man enough to admit that I came to tolerate it over the last year. It actually did change up my hunting style during the cooldowns to allow for a more varied hunt. However, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we've definitely been greased, so a huge thank you for listening to the majority and making this change.

If you still want a cooldown, all you have to do is have less than 200 ranks of EMC! ;)

It can now!

515 is now refreshable and the cooldown is calculated when the spell is cast, rather than when it ends. If you have less than 200 ranks of Elemental Mana Control, refreshing 515 will incur the +5 additional mana penalty. If you have at least 200 ranks of EMC, 515 should be refreshable without any penalties now.

Have fun!

One (or more) of these GM posts is well worth having up in the overall 'Announcements' category.

so now the 3 second cooldown is the max benefit at 192 ranks to account for 515 cast rt?

Sorry, I think I got confused somewhere... 192 is the max benefit?

that's what I'd like to confirm. With the initial cast of 515 you still have 3 sec cast RT, and a 3 seconds cooldown would be 192 ranks to cast again immediately after the cast RT (why you would want to, I don't know)

Cast RT is cast RT, not a cooldown. Refreshing without 200 ranks of EMC results in the cooldown with +5 mana penalty applied to all spells cast under the effect of 515.

To go into more detail (I hope this helps):

The cooldown is the same as before, but 60 seconds longer to account for the duration of 515 itself since it is calculated and applied when the spell is cast. The net result is the same as before with the old formula, but now refreshing 515 is allowed. The only special rule here is that if the cooldown would be 60 seconds or less (The duration of 515, 200 ranks of EMC), no cooldown is applied at all since it would only be active during 515 anyways. This allows casters with 200 ranks of EMC to refresh it without any penalty.

I'm not sure if this happened because Rapid Fire was cast while the character was still in Cast RT, but the first cast after Rapid Fire was applied still takes the full 3 seconds.
