I knew all that mana was bad idea 03/16/2012 10:15 PM CDT
Something just went horribly awry!

As you poke around inside the lock, you hear a buzzing noise coming from within a scratched thanot chest. Something darts out of the chest and settles at the lock opening! A tiny insect with a glimmering opalescent shell flutters there momentarily, then opens its wings and faces you!

A glimmering opalescent scarab releases a radiant burst of energy towards you!
CS: +635 - TD: +361 + CvA: -18 + d100: +65 - -5 == +326
Warding failed!
You feel a surge of intense energy suddenly tear violently at your body! You feel drained!
... and hits for 63 points of damage!
... 25 points of damage!
Flames burn neck into a bubbling mass of flesh. Forget lunch.
You are stunned for 8 rounds!
... 70 points of damage!
Icy blast deep freezes one perfectly good heart!
The light blue glow leaves you.
The silvery luminescence fades from around you.
The bright luminescence fades from around you.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around you.
The focused look leaves you.
The glowing specks of energy surrounding you suddenly shoot off in all directions, then quickly fade away.
You lose your extra internal fortitude.

An invasion of scarabs would be brutal.

Was the room extremely bright, or were you paying the price for not checking? Or are you not tripled? I think a capped tripler would be capable of disarming even a -480 on a fumble in bright conditions (and would require a double fumble before it blew up).

I doubt the room was bright, and I'm only doubled with lore. It was about a -395 I think, so even then the fumble must have been fairly bad. -448 is my all time max, but that was in a bright room and modded down a couple of times...
