I suggest wandering down to Solhaven and dropping by the Garden of Forbidden Knowledge. Raelee uses it as her personal office. She may or may not be there. (If she's not around, just ask the barn owl in the market. If the barn owl isn't around, she's probably out of town.)

She (Raelee, not the barn owl) may not be the best mentor in the world, but she's usually at least willing to give you something to try to wrap your brain around.
