Newish warrior looking for advice. 02/02/2018 02:41 PM CST
So I recently rolled a warrior, intending on specializing in the claid. I was looking for advice on a few aspects. Firstly I'll post the build I'm using...

8 ranks of armor
2x two hand
5 ranks multi-opponent
2x cman
2x physical fitness
2x dodge
1x perception
1x first aid

Now... I am probably gonna go 1x survival, cimbing, and swimming... But I don't really see much benefit this early on. (lvl 6)
If any claid warriors want to give feedback/advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

A few specific questions I have though are as follows...

Armor.
So I know certain ranks reduce penalties of certain armors... Based on what I know about how armor and the skill works, I was planning on staying rank 8 until rank 30 was available, then spam that so I can upgrade from double leather to a brig, then leapfrogging to each next tier of full coverage armor. Seems the most economic idea to me. But my question is, would upgrading to a heavy leather breastplate, offer better defense over full coverage double leather?
Also, if I stayed in double leather, and kept pumping the armor skill past the required 8th rank, would it increase my defense in that double leather? Or would it make no difference to my defenses?

Cman's.
I haven't trained any cman's yet, because I'm not really sure what to go with. Weapon specialisation seems like an obvious one, but what would everyones suggestions be? Pump weap spec as hard and fast as I can? Or train in other cmans alongside it? And if the latter, what cman's wuld you suggest?
Also, regarding weap spec, I notice there are three of them. wspec I, wspec II, wspec III... Are these for specialising in three different weapons? Or can they all be used on one weapon?
Currently I have 16 cman points unspent, burning a hole in my pocket lol

Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts.

For armor, I always look at "what do I get if I take ONLY torso coverage, in the next-higher ArmorGroup?"
(That is to say, is there a payoff for being in AsG13/chainmail [chest/abdomen/back get the crit divisor of chain, arms/legs/head/neck/eyes get the crit divisor of rigid leather], or not?)

Generally speaking, I prefer to be in the torso-coverage of the higher ArmorGroup.
- CvA is better (lower), meaning you gain a faux-TD payoff (like getting 101/light blues cast at you) when facing warding spellcasters;
- crits are harder to inflict on you (and note that that chest, back, and abdomen can all result in "death" from a crit, as opposed to a limb simply being lopped off);
- the 'base weight' of the AsG tends to go up as you get higher in numbers, so any given "make my armor lighter" session that you run across will pay off more, helping your encumbrance, and therefor helping you dodge those maneuvers.

.

But yeah, CvA and crit divisor are the big ones for me.

<wspec I, wspec II, wspec III... Are these for specialising in three different weapons?>

This one, can't be combined.

<This one, can't be combined.>

Forgive me if I sound stupid, but I'm a tad confused... Sooo... Do you mean that if I choose wspec I and select a weapon for it to apply to, wspec II and III will apply to that weapon? Or do you mean they cant be combined on a single weapon type? As in, I'd have to choose for example, 2-H axe for wspec I, claid for wspec II etc...? Forgive me if I'm being dense... Fresh off the turnip farm... lol

They can't be combined on a single weapon base.

So wspec1 would be broadsword, wspec II short sword etc

Specifically, you can NOT use "shortsword" and "shortsword" and "shortsword" as your three WSpec, and triple up the bonuses.
