I feel like more often than not when things go wrong, it's called out quickly and sometimes harshly. I'm sure there are days where as staff it feels like there's nothing but criticism and negativity from the player base. Conversely, praise is harder to come by.
I wanted to make a temporary break in that cycle by giving props for seeing an opportunity for people to be idle at home and stepping up to service that need. I've seen an uptick in people returning after years (sometimes decades) of being gone. I've personally had more conversations and interactions with people than I've had in a long time, and I'm hoping it's not an isolated experience.
I personally believe that the "life blood" of the game are the social bonds that are built within it, and giving those bonds new life and a place to thrive is the best goal a staff member can have.
So, cheers for offering a shelter in the storm.
