For those who master voln, the other or Sunfist it doesn't ever have an advance. I will use Voln as an example but this can apply to the others.

For Voln Masters, they are presented with three choices. They can further hone their current Symbols for increases in power, decreases in favor expenditure and eventually a few new Symbols. Choice 2, they can sacrifice much of the power of their current Symbols in favor of more powerful ones which can only be gained through very hard won challenges. A much more long and difficult road than the original Voln Mastery, their powers will very slowly grow into new symbols which will supersede and replace the originals. The favor cost will increase and possibly more such as mana for certain symbols. The third choice is they resign themselves to research and very slowly learn through experience, library studies and meditations a special series of symbols only available to them, more potency for their current symbols and a reduced favor cost.

Each of the three choices could be accompanied by different facilities. One might be a library, laboratory and meditation center. Another may be similar to the Halls of Voln where they are gaining access to one more position toward Divine Master (let's call that the next form of Master) with each task. The third might be a place already in the Voln locations but accessible only by those on the path where they hone and improve on their current symbols, eventually gaining a precious few new ones. In some hidden chambers, inner walls, some other nooks and crannies.

This would give those who are way way way past Mastery a chance and opportunity to refine their characteristics, gain some power and give their roleplay huge levels of new depth. If the choices could include a scale for how long and laborious each road could be, with the one that goes for Divine Master being the hardest then even those who are 3x post-cap and beyond might still have challenges that could be intriguing for them, keep the game's edge. Also, if they get an enormous powerful symbol by the end of that, say a trans-realm travel capability or they get a Saving Throw from death, or they get a whole new spell from a Voln circle-- that would be really something to look forward to and achieve. If the goods are as good as the work and time put in deserve, then it would launch GSIV into a new orbit as far as society satisfaction.

Just sayin'!
