Warding failed!
Your eahnor bastard sword is struck with the Royal Empress's cast.

A burst of flame leaps from a burnished eahnor bastard sword in your right hand.
... 35 points of damage!
Right arm scorched so bad it might as well be gone.
You are stunned for 6 rounds!

thought that this was not supposed to happen with a ensorcelled weapon

I thought it was only veil iron, krodera, and kroderine (the anti-magic ones).

Just be happy the spell works wonders for critters when they use it.

Players version is downright pathetic in comparison.

Use it on a like level creature - the creature will most likely suffer a few minor wounds or one of the crit cycles will force the creature to drop the weapon and now it's pointless because the creature is no longer taking damage.
Use it on a creature 5 levels over you - don't waste your mana, they just laugh at you.
Use it on a creature 5 levels under you - might provide a few rank 2 wounds, but most likely after the first or second crit cycle, the damage will force the creature to drop the weapon.
Use it on a creature 10+ levels under you that you can't learn from - works decent as long as a crit cycle doesn't force the creature to drop the weapon.
Use it on a creature 20+ levels under you - you should see solid crits, even death crits....as long as the crit cycles don't force the creature to drop the weapon.

Or how about the best aspect of the spell when you cast it at a creature and you successfully ward them and the spell still fails to trigger because apparently there is a hidden check for the weapon itself to see if the spell actually actives after you successfully warded the target....

It's a great spell. It makes 514 look like a welcomed spell to waste mana on over 915.

Just don't let creatures cast it on you and if they do, you better be running a script that automatically puts the weapon in your disk or drops it to the ground (disk is best as long as you don't die before you can pick the weapon up after 915 wears off. Dropping the weapon on the ground means a few things: 1) a creature can now pick up your weapon or 2) the weapon is fair game to the janitor [which at least can now be recovered through the Adventure Guild so I've heard] and could be lost if no one comes to save you).
