There already is a list of valid alternate weapon names (https://gswiki.play.net/List_of_alternative_weapon_names) why not let the forger choose what the final weapon will be from the list.

Also when a piece is scribed, there is no way to tell what it is unless you weigh it and guess. It would be nice to be able to analyze a scribed piece and it will tell you what it is supposed to be.
