A Question of Tenure 04/02/2022 03:12 PM CDT
Darkness had descended upon Mist Harbor but Rohese's search continued unabated. Pausing to scribble a few more notes on a sheet of parchment, she quickly returned to the library shelves. It must be here somewhere!

Rumbling thunder echoed throughout the area. Rohese brushed her hair away from her weary eyes and tucked it behind one ear with an impatient huff, smudging her cheek with ink in the process. It was late and Mirkk would probably start worrying soon but she had to keep at it. Her frantically scribbled notes lay strewn about the place but she needed to be sure about her assertions before voicing them.

Word had reached her earlier that day of Ordim's audacious plan for the Stumbling Pebble Bar. In Greth's absence, he had taken liberties with the place and she couldn't let it continue. It was not only inappropriate; it was disrespectful!

Methodically moving along the neatly organised bookcases, her fingers traced each spine in turn until one particular dusty tome caught her attention. Carefully hooking her finger into it, she pulled it free and carried it over to the nearby desk where the glow of an overhead globe illuminated the title: "Rights and Responsibilities of Tenure."

The waft of faded ink and dusty parchment assaulted her nose as she opened the old book. The pages had clearly not seen the light of day for many years. She flicked through each section in the hope of finding something...anything that would give her the confirmation she needed.

"Yes!" She said, rather too loudly for the location but a guilty glance around the wing reassured her that she was alone.

Running her finger along the lines of text, she read the paragraph twice over just to be sure she had grasped its content correctly.

"Misappropriation of property means the deliberate misplacement, exploitation or wrongful, temporary or permanent use of a person's belongings or money without that person's consent. Criminal misappropriation of property is distinguished from the offence of theft but the offence of theft and criminal misappropriation of property have the aspect of dishonesty in common. Whoever dishonestly misappropriates or coverts a property for his or her own use will be guilty of dishonest misappropriation of property and subject to the justice system."

With a sigh of relief, she reached for more parchment and wrote a quick note to the two people she knew she could rely on to help her stand up to Ordim: Traiva and Akenna.
