School of PvP 09/05/2011 03:42 PM CDT
Hello!

In an attempt to broaded the interest and acceptance of PvP in the game I've begun putting together an unofficial organization dedicated to those wishing to improve their capabilities at PvP. I talked about it briefly in the General Combat folder. http://tinyurl.com/3pxknvd

Since then the idea has taken off and is flourishing. This group known as Zeal is now slated to be a School of PvP and is officially accepting members!

For each of the guilds we now have instructors, some of whom you may already know to be experienced PvPers inside of the game. The present PvP instructors include:

Barbarian - Vinjince
Bard - Leilond
Cleric - Liurilias, Tyrun
Empath - Asrea
Moon Mage - Fyrn, Asrion
Necromancer - Pariah, Totenus
Paladin - Taghz
Ranger - Nefidyne
Thief - Alacron, Ipkin
Trader - Apu
Warrior Mage - Mordimer

As a Recap...

This group will serve as a School of PvP. This is a self help group. The only way to improve at PvP is to practice. In addition to any advice you may receive from the group, it is imperative that you practice! As such I have created a consolidated list of all DragonRealms PvP related events which is posted on the group's external forum.

This group is designed for people who enjoy PvP or want to become better at PvP. If you have never gotten into PvP but have always wanted to learn how, you've come to the right place.

Members inside of this group put their differences aside when dealing with group matters. This is a school for learning how to fight regardless of background. This group does not discriminate based on circle, guild, race, gender or social standings. If you have a love for PvP and/or desire to become better at PvP you belong here within the fold.

- Our Direction
Our ideal is that we may one day become perfect in combat, each in our own individual way. Our purpose is to help one another attain that ideal through practice, tactics discussion and combat theory development.
OOC: Through in depth testing and analysis we are able to create a collective knowledge base with regard to game systems as they pertain to PvP interactions.

- What Should I Expect as a Player?
Here you may seek advice, discussion or communion with others of a similar mindset. Inside of this group you have access to a wide berth of players who share an interest in PvP. Members may easily share contact information with one another and schedule sparring sessions as desired. Additionally here we stay on top of all PvP associated events via our calendar, located on the external forum. In the future we may begin scheduling some of our own PvP related events through the proper Play.net channels.

- What Should I Expect as a Character?
This group will be known for its caliber of fighters and its members will be the signature duelists of Elanthia. To achieve that level of prestige will take much practice and refinement of PvP ability. Characters involved with Zeal should have a strong desire to better their own fighting ability in the game and shouldn't be afraid of fighting whenever challenged. Losing a fight should merely be an opportunity to learn. As the group progresses characters within Zeal should expect to be held to a high renown with regard to PvP combat; however that is your job to uphold. We are all here to help one another become the best we can be at PvP.

If you're interested in joining the group please Reply to this thread with your character's name. Also please Reply with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

~Leilond

Hey Leilond,

I can't join at the moment for various reasons, but might be interested in a couple months.

A couple of quick questions:

1) IC-wise, is it meant to be very formal? Close-knit? Is it like a band of brothers/sisters in arms? Or a group who have taken an oath to be the best duelists? Or more a loose association? I'm just trying to get a bit more feel for the in-character flavor of it.

2) Is it possible to be a part of this group and other IC orders/organizations?

It is meant to be very informal. If we ever start setting up events of our own it may become more formal but only for those who choose to participate.

At the very minimum it is a self oath on the part of the character to flourish and/or actively make an effort to improve in the skills of dueling. Some members may view it more like Fight Club. Some members may view it more like a karate class and may even set up a kind of student/teacher relationship RolePlay to represent a growing improvement in martial ability. (Think of Beatris and Pai Mei in the motion picture Kill Bill)

I tried to make it flexible enough so that those already inside of an IC Order don't have to be penalized for "associating with ruffians."

You certainly can be apart of this group and other IC orders/organizations :)

It sounds like it'll be a fun way to get better at PvP, especially with so much changing on the horizon with combat in general. Broichan will hopefully learn some of Leilond's bardic tricks!

Our members forum can be located here: http://drzeal.forumotion.com/

You can register and inquire about all your PvP concerns there to get answers from one of our PvP Instructors. We're working at getting a general PvP intro post for each of the guild FAQ sections :)

If we start sponsoring official events I'll inquire about getting a secondary forum set up here on the Play.net boards as well.

Thanks!

I wish it were more active, I haven't seen anything since months ago. Unless I'm missing some section of the boards?

Nope, those boards are quiet.

If you're wanting to get more into PvP I'd suggest checking out the Wyvern Arena events(Every Monday night) or the Theren Fight Night events(Every Thursday night). Also you can email my play.net address if you'd rather some person to person advice/help :)
