Storm mage cyclic idea 06/23/2017 09:40 AM CDT
Just brainstorming here a bit (no pun intended) about a pseudo modular cyclic idea for WMs.

New cyclic, TM, advanced (esoteric?), Air element = Eye of the Storm
Deals impact/cold damage to one random engaged target. 2 Slots. Requires Swirling Winds.
- This would be the "base" cyclic. Obviously nothing fancy, but instead of hitting everything engaged or focused on the currently faced target, it would simply pick one by itself. The reason for this comes next...

- If the mage knows Stone Strike, the storm's intensity will be strong enough to rip boulders up and hurl them randomly at engaged targets.
-- This would basically add a cast of SS to the cyclic. This add-on would be on its own pulse timer. Again, pick a random critter.

- If the mage knows Lightning Bolt, the storm becomes charged enough to rain lightning upon randomly engaged targets.
-- Same thing as SS, just adds random casts of LB now too.

- If the mage knows Vertigo, the storm's pressure fluctuations are enough to possible unbalance/knockdown randomly engaged targets.
-- Since Vertigo is a Debil spell, this would also contest/teach debilitation. Otherwise, same concept as SS and LB.

The thought process here was creating some sort of modular cyclic that can add more effects for spells the mage may already know. Full Slot investment is high, but obviously the individual spells can stand on their own as well. Other than customizing the effects, each one would be on it's own pulse timer, which would be the other feature. Essentially picturing a powerful storm that the mage doesn't have total control over. The varied pulse timing would add to the "feel".

I'm sure there are several obstacles for something like this, but it would be neat if possible in the future!
