Utility training spells? 01/22/2013 04:00 PM CST

I've been messing around with magic and I can get most things moving comfortably, but Utility seems to be a bit of a slouch. I'm currently casting Blufmor Garaen at my personal cap (50 with 390 in utility) once per rotation. I've got an Augmentation spell (ys at personal cap) that's also only cast once per rotation but it's moving about twice as fast as Utility.

Am I missing something?

BG is a combo utility/TM spell, so the utility XP is a little lower than a pure utility spell.

I think that because BG teaches two skills instead of just one, it teaches each one less (that was my impression with DB). FOI is purely utility, maybe that will teach better.

try ignite... adjust numbers as needed, and maybe pause 2 extra seconds between actions

prep ignite 20
charge camb 20
invoke camb 20
harness 20
cast weapon
release ignite
repeat

The hybrid spells teach what they dabble in, and use whatever is your lowest of the two skills as well, I'm guessing it varies per hybrid spell- DB would teach utility cast, and TM when spit, same with BG. YS is more of an augmentation spell.

I don't think you really need to release it, less scroll without it. I was training with ignite last night and I didn't notice any negative effects.

thanks! Ignite seems to be working much better. Too bad BG didn't teach well. I assumed the esoteric spells would teach better for me.

Release - otherwise you can't recast while you have a weapon ignited.
At least it wasn't working when I tried recasting on the same weapon before, and I know you can't ignite 2 weapons.
I'll recheck later.

After some more munging with the rotation, I opted for Air Bubble instead. Similar difficulty as ignite but doesn't require me to be holding a weapon.

Although, I do want to incorporate ignite into my hunting habits. That sounds awesome.

Yes, MOA + Ignite made my jabs and feints do damage similar to when I would swing/bash with my greastsword.

Also the fiery weapon thing looks a bit neater than a mini SOP to me.
