Anyone ever figure out the scheme behind the automatic familiar feature thing? I heard a post from a GM a Looooooong time ago that it was tied to names, specifically a letter in your name that gave you certain subset of familiar features, or maybe different letters corresponding with each type of familiar. Not sure.

It'd be neat if we could put paid to this and just figure it out with some polling on familiar features. Going to spend a little time carving up ALL the different kinds of familiars I can on my warmages and post them.

People will find you just as tedious and boring to talk to at 1000 ranks as they did at 100.

Ive got a data set of a couple dozen people and their familiars, but either there were faults in the data (some collected before the color change?) or the system is more complex than I thought, such as some colors occuring in multiple sets.

If I had to guess, I'd guess it's tied to PIN number. I know for sure at least one other system is tied to that (just don't ask me which one).

And likely, there's duplication.

I think one of the Ranger spell descriptions is tied to the PIN.

Oh right, and I think which disguise prep you get as a necromancer is as well.

And sharing pin numbers is baaaad. Not that I know what they do.

In any event, after my data failed to accurately predict a few familiars, I decided it probably needed to be thrown out and I never got around to collecting again.

Plus, the number of players who have carved all 20 talismans was pretty small to be informative. Then the verbose familiar change happened at some point...
