Wow.

I was disappointed to find that my custom color is actually available on the public list, but then so were the next several things I thought of.

NICE JOB, Wythor! This is incredible.

Again, sorry about the duplication. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of what colors I've added. Your new choice is ready for the updated release, which should be this weekend.

Olwydd.org now has lists of the prefix and basic colors for pattern hues at http://www.olwydd.org/guilds/warmage/patterns.php

I have seen people mention colors I haven't listed from being unable to duplicate them. These are: beige, chartreuse, fog white, maroon, puce, russet.

If anyone knows any additional (non-custom) colors, please contact me.

Thanks.

I wonder if these got ahh slightly disconnected when Wythor was making changes as I know Elizz was able to do puce at one time. And its on my original list so I know it was there.

Course it could have been taken by someone but I wonder if I really want to know that person then 8-P

And I dont see maroon or fog white on either the original list or the second list that was posted.

And one more thing, Wythor, are you still taking custom color requests? Yes, I'm stupid & didnt have a chance to think of what my other char would want, flippin RL made it slip my mind.

Send 'em in. I'm still adding them when I have the time (which isn't often, but better than 'soon').

Do we need to have Pattern Hues as a cantrip option to get a custom color? :D I mean, hey, I'll get it EVENTUALLY!

I hope not! I submitted one and I don't have it. I don't even know what the pre-reqs for it are.

You don't need the cantrip, no. None of those who participated in the contest had it, either.

But we all met the cantrip's requirements, and the cantrip itself was not yet available.

Contest Rules:

First, you have to be a Warrior Mage. :)

Submit, by e-mail, your color choice. This cannot be a 'standard' color (green, blue, etc.). Try to get creative. I'll accept patterns also, though they must be within reason. I reserve the right to reject any inappropriate choices.

Along with your choice you should submit your character's name. Please include "Pattern Hues Contest Entry" in the subject line of your e-mail, so I know what I'm looking at.

Submit your entry before the end of the year, and I'll randomly pick ten entries from each instance of the game: Prime, Platinum, and The Fallen. I'll then code the cantrip to only allow the named character to use that particular color.

In the first contest held, Wythor required that you be able to learn the cantrip as soon as it came out, along with having a certain amount of PM...

Personally I was a bit miffed because i took a spell just to be eligbile, and now you don't have to have it.

>>No mention of circle/skill requirement.

If you don't know the Pattern Hues cantrip, your custom color is on 'hold' for the time being. It's in the system, just not accessible. You'll have to e-mail me when you learn the cantrip to activate the color for you. I put the colors in the cantrip to have all the colors in one place -- it makes it easier to check to see if a color already exists.

In the meantime, in the interest of fairness anyone who knows the cantrip gets the first opportunity to choose a particular custom color. So if you don't know the cantrip and your color is on hold, someone who knows the cantrip can still pick that color.

To learn the Pattern Hues cantrip, you need to be circle 20 or higher, have at least 120 ranks of Primary Magic skill, and know at least one other Aether cantrip.

As long as Dethent trains properly, reaching circle 20 from circle 12 is not that big an issue.

Kynevon took forever to circle from 15th because that is th ecircle I decided that I needed to work on shield again, and my real life time to play DR took a massive hit.

Circle 12 is probably pothanits and badgers, around 15 or so you can probably move to grass eels, around 17 or 18m you can move to bone wolves, and, at 20th, you can easily move on to sandies, which will speed you up to 25th before you need to start looking for your next creature.

In that case, I wonder why I didn't pick it up when Gulph learned the other new cantrips from Kharazil. Hopefully I just skipped over it and it's not anything wrong with Gulph, because while I don't break things often, when I do it's normally a doozie.

Been there, done that. Heh. One thing to keep in mind, which is what keeps hitting me in the face, is that, at some point, you will hit some creature that teaches TM extremely well, but that you lag in learning mundane combats on, for one reason or another. At that point, if your mundane primary weapon is at all close to your TM in skill, you will suddenly wind up circling multiple times as your TM soars to the creature cap.

Now, while it isn't as bad as all that, I am torn between hunting for mundane combats, and playing with something more dangerous that teaches me TM.

Fortunately, despite my out of balance condition, I can still, thanks to SuF, handle 2 swain nicely, and survive 3 swain long enough to either retreat or kill the extra...

can some of the parts of customs be placed in the GP usage? Like the first word of mine? I don't mind.

Re: Color list. 07/22/2006 02:04 PM CDT
Some parts already are.. for instance Elizz has 'crimson streaked steel grey'
General usage colors have steel grey & crimson as usable by anyone.

I'll admit though that my 2nd warmage has his colors based off the general usage list.
I just couldnt come up with a cool color that probably hasnt been taken so I mixed a couple things, now I just need to bust his chops to get the cantrip.

Do I care if my custom color were used? Not really, I'm just happy that in the end all warmages can win, one way or another. Do I care if the colors were already chosen by Wy & I just 'happened' to pick them? Not really again, same reason above, we all win.
