Icy elemental weapon damage messaging 10/15/2016 09:59 AM CDT
Icy but fire? Might have to do with the Mark of Arhat, but I hadn't seen it before.

The branded lines of fire on a bawdy swain flare a brilliant blue-white!
< You swing an icy hara at a bawdy swain. A bawdy swain badly fails to block with a Dwarven hammer.
The hara lands a hard (6/23) hit that burns a sizzling wound as the stomach takes full force of the blow.

The branded lines of fire on a bawdy swain flare a brilliant blue-white!
< You swing an icy hara at a bawdy swain. A bawdy swain badly fails to parry with a hand axe.
The hara lands a hard (6/23) hit that temporarily knocks away the swain's breath with a scorching blow to the chest, lightly stunning it.

The branded lines of fire on a bawdy swain flare a brilliant blue-white!
< You swing an icy maul at a bawdy swain. A bawdy swain badly fails to parry with a cudgel.
The maul lands a strong (7/23) hit that painfully singes the right arm.
[You're winded, nimbly balanced with no advantage.]
[Roundtime 5 sec.]

The branded lines of fire on a bawdy swain flare a brilliant blue-white!
< You lob an icy javelin at a bawdy swain. A bawdy swain fails to evade.
The javelin lands a heavy (8/23) strike that scalds the chest with a blow to the ribcage, lightly stunning it.

The branded lines of fire on a bawdy swain flare a brilliant blue-white!
< You lob an icy spear at a bawdy swain. A bawdy swain attempts to dodge.
The spear lands a solid (5/23) hit that enkindles the swain's lower back.
The icy spear falls to the ground!

(side note: Tested without MoA up, no more fire messaging. It seems this happens when the bonus damage exceeds the weapon damage, in the case of smaller weapons with low skill vs. higher magic skill)

Elemental Weapons breaking 01/02/2017 10:44 AM CST
Hey, Looking for updates on the bugs reported.

Bug #1

If you summon a weapon, 90% of the time it ignores the elemental damage component and goes to the next highest damage for messaging. (clarify: 90% of the time the instance of summoned weapon doesn't work properly)

So you end up with quarterstaves that do jabbing damage, etc.

Things I've checked:
Appraise careful on creatures to confirm no immunities.
Multiple turns/shapes to try and "reset" the weapon

Bug #2

This may be on my end with syntax, but i'm not able to shape a weapon back to stone.

> summon weapon elec stav

Your knowledge of weaponsmithing improves the pattern you are attempting to summon.
Closing your eyes, you grunt briefly in effort as you sense a small electrical ethereal fissure open in front of you. Thrusting your hand through, you draw out an electric quarterstaff. As you open your eyes, the fissure closes.
Roundtime: 1 sec.

> shape electric quarterstaff to stone
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO <skill>, if you know Expansive Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO STONE, if the weapon is currently shaped to ICE, ELECTRIC, or FIRE.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ICE, if you know Icy Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ELECTRIC, if you know Shocking Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO FIRE, if you know Fiery Infusions.

> shape my quarterstaff to stone
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO <skill>, if you know Expansive Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO STONE, if the weapon is currently shaped to ICE, ELECTRIC, or FIRE.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ICE, if you know Icy Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ELECTRIC, if you know Shocking Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO FIRE, if you know Fiery Infusions.

> shape quarterstaff to stone
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO <skill>, if you know Expansive Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO STONE, if the weapon is currently shaped to ICE, ELECTRIC, or FIRE.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ICE, if you know Icy Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO ELECTRIC, if you know Shocking Infusions.
You may SHAPE quarterstaff TO FIRE, if you know Fiery Infusions.

> glance

You glance down to see an electric quarterstaff in your right hand.

The reason you're seeing fire damage is because you have Mark of Arhat on the target.

>>shape quarterstaff to stone

Despite what the help messaging says, the correct syntax is SHAPE WEAPONNAME TO EARTH

So, shape quarterstaff to earth.

You don't need to include the icy or electric part when specifying the weapon in that command.

When you appraise the weapon, pay attention to which damage type the elemental damage has an affinity for.

icy quarterstaff trains the stave skill.

You are certain that it could do:
somewhat fair puncture damage
dismal slice damage
no impact damage
no fire damage
very heavy cold damage with affinity for impact attacks

If you're jabbing, you might get cold damage to show up rarely, but if you use an attack that uses impact (bash, chop, slice possibly), you'll see the cold damage more often.

No, in this case, when doing impact attacks (swing, bash, etc) it give jab messaging on the damage, and no elemental.

I thought you meant that you were trying to jab and it wasn't doing icy damage. I'll test it out and see what it does.

There were some hits in between that didn't do elemental damage, but these are all of the elemental hits on 1 mob. I'm just using the ATTACK verb over and over here.

< With great skill, you swing an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake badly fails to parry with its fiery claws. The quarterstaff lands a hard hit that glances the drake's gut and numbs it, lightly stunning it.

< Moving well, you feint an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake barely fails to block with stony hide. The quarterstaff lands a light hit that glances the drake's gut and numbs it, lightly stunning it.

< Moving fluidly, you bash an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake barely fails to block with stony hide. The quarterstaff lands a heavy strike that painfully numbs the left arm.

< Attacking skillfully, you bash an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake badly fails to block with its fiery claws. The quarterstaff lands a strong hit that chills the left knee for a moment with a frosty blow, lightly stunning it.

< Attacking skillfully, you swing an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake barely fails to block with stony hide. The quarterstaff lands a strong hit that cools skin and chills bone with a frost-covered blow to the right leg.

< Moving skillfully, you swing an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake attempts to evade. The quarterstaff lands a heavy strike that rips free chunks of skin from the drake's chest as the icy quarterstaff freezes to it, severely stunning it.

< Moving skillfully, you swing an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake attempts to dodge. The quarterstaff lands a strong hit that shatters the left arm into frozen ice shards.

< Moving skillfully, you swing an icy quarterstaff at a lava drake. A lava drake badly fails to block with its fiery claws. The quarterstaff lands an extremely heavy hit that shatters the drake's frozen leg so only a jagged shard remains.
A lava drake jacknifes a few times, then grows still, its body rapidly cooling until it is little more than a smoldering pile of rocks.
