From the very first Elanthia 11/15/2003 12:33 PM CST
From the Town of Squire Bluff, World of Elanthia (also know at times as Elanith), Realms of Gemstone 2, circa 1988. This starts in the Wedding Glade, where the first weddings ever in Elanthia were performed.

Note that if you were in a room and saw the shadow of a dragon circling overhead, it behooved you to move quickly, or risk becoming lunch for draco junior... Notice all the 'you's in the descriptions, something that is now avoided, though was still happening even in DR's early days.

After the few rooms are snapshots of the Fighter Guildmaster's office (this was Caver's office, but I believe he had left by this point), and the main room of the Hanging Inn, which was the social gathering spot, and became even more popular when the pesky dragon started hanging around the open market (our 'town green'). Before that players and GMs often hung out by the well to chat.

This was all formatted for 80 column screens, and of course was recorded on same; if you can't read it well try a smaller font or a wider window to fit at least 80 columns...

Glenlivet
- memories of Elanthia's oldest history...

You are in a small, semi-circular glade bordered by tall oaks. At the west
end stand two tall, venerable oaks, the trunks of which are entwined to
symbolize the unity of two souls in a bond that lasts for all time and beyond.
You also notice a small rosewood altar set before the large oak trees.
Obvious paths: East.
>e
You are standing on a small grassy bluff overlooking the waterfall. The spot
is comfortable and the grass is soft, and it appears to be a lovely place to
rest...or do other things. You also notice a shady oak tree which stands in
the center of the bluff, a flowery path leading to a small glade, a large,
holly bordered sign, and the shadow of a dragon circling high above.
Obvious paths: East.
>e
You stand at the halfway point between the mesa and the ground below. A tiny
mountain lake and several waterfalls are visible from this point, and a path
leads west in their direction. The steps continue up and down from here, and
have become wider.
Obvious exits: West, Up, Down.
>d
Large, tiered cliffs lead up before you to the secondary plateau of Squire
Bluff. To the south a trail leads into the town proper.
Obvious paths: South, Up.
>s
You are in the open market of Squire Bluff. Most of the merchants seem to be
selling to each other while they rest for the final climb over the mountains.
You can see several buildings on a bluff above you and more to the south and
west. You also notice an old stone water well at the far end of the
marketplace, a large metal sign set just off the main street, and a dark
scale.
Obvious paths: North, East, South, West.

(FIGHTERS GUILD, GUILDMASTER'S OFFICE)

You are in the shadowed office of the Guildmaster. Wisps of smoke trail out
of a stone hearth, providing the only warmth to this large chamber. Set upon
the cold floor are a few pieces of heavy furniture, constructed of oak and
supported by thick iron bands. Dimly burning lanterns break through the chill
with their uneasy flickering light. Several shelves are mounted upon one
wall, piled high with charts, scrolls, and other papers. You also notice a
massive ironbound oaken door, now closed, with a burly guard standing beside
it, a large wooden trunk, its lid resting closed, pushed up against the far
wall with some stuff on it, and a large chest.
Obvious exits: North, Out.

(THE INN) (I couldn't resist including the names of those present)

This area is warm and comfortable, and offers plenty of seating room. You
also notice overhead a brightly lit chandelier which dangles from a dozen
silver chains, its weight securely fastened to the high beamed ceiling above,
and a sturdy table, its surface pitted and scarred by the fists and knives of
a thousand past arguments, with an oil lamp on it.
Obvious exits: East, South, West.
Present are Haakaan who is seated, Jamain who is seated, Albatross who is
seated, Dude who is seated, Shandril who is seated, Nogard who is seated, Zen,
Snowmaiden who is seated, Stuart who is seated, Hollie.
