I do agree with you, but the official word on the topic is that gweth activity is interpreted by the one receiving it. So as long as players are receptive to the idea of thought-hugs, it will continue.
Additionally however, since you can take those thoughts however you like them, you can always just mock people for it. Smozh (back when he used to wear gweths) would consistantly scold a certain Rakash. "Why must you send the word 'grin' along the gwethdesuaen? Can't you just grin, and leave the rest of us out of it?"

Personally I think if it's not verbal it should not be on the gweth.

Im with drongol. i dont smile, smirk, pounce, grin, laugh, cackle, wink, ponder, shake my fist or hug (distinct from a common and acceptible expression "hugs!" - but you'll never catch me shouting HUGS! to anyone, ever)on the gweth.

If its not verbal i dont gweth it. And if it's physical I won't gweth it.

I'm annoying enough when i broadcast period.

I wonder if it would be possible to include the emotes used in SAY/GRUNT (for Dwarves) in the THOUGHT verb. This would allow us to convey a wide range of emotions without worrying about being all ::huggiesmoocheslol::

There are some days I'd go so far as to call it an endangered species. However there's other days that I stumble upon someone as they display impressive talent for what I call 'casual role-play.' I attempt to cherish every opportunity I get to engage in casual role-play, because honestly I'm never sure when the next chance will crop up.

Yeah, it's rare just to see someone standing around RPing with people these days. Most people are only half-ass in character, and only in the sense that they aren't standing around talking about football games or what have you.

In Crossing lately I haven't seen much of it. I think it's time for my primary to take a trip elsewhere for a while.
