You're using an awful lot of words and commas on that painting to say the following:

The telescope is masterfully engraved with the symbol of the Monks of the Crystal Hand.

Or if you really need to detail what that is:

The telescope is masterfully engraved with a hand clutching the lump of amber.

At the very minimum you should strip what you have down and to something like this:

The telescope is masterfully engraved with a hand closing around the amber. Each focusing ring is banded with onyx, sapphire and ruby.


Any of those suggestions could likely use a little work, and if you want length you can detail other things about the telescope if you want. But you don't need a wall of text to explain the hand. Masterfully implies the knuckles and fingernails. You don't need to say that the hand is engraved twice. "when viewed at the correct angle" is totally unneeded. And what you're trying to picture just wouldn't work. At most the fingertips could be grasping the amber, but they won't work wrapped around it (since any way you did it they'd be UNDER the amber and thus be the wrong color).
