Just to clarify for the confused person.
LARP: Live Action Role Playing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_action_role-playing_game
DR: Not LARP http://www.play.net/dr/
Unless there's a DR LARP group out there.
In which case thats cool.
Also, RP is good.

While I think this post was more amusing than anything, the constant use of LARP is obnoxious, and insulting. Yes, I know that's the intention, but it doesn't make it less so.

Hard to say. Might be historical reenactment which is differen, though sometimes the line is a bit blurry.
Actually watching further, that's reenactors. Possibly SCA. Different beast.

Larp: typically foam-weapons, and 'magic'. Dungeons and Dragons in the park. Healing, damage, control, etc. magic style effects.
SCA: live weapons and armor, no magic. Note I never did SCA, but I'm told they require metal armor to join in for user-protection, because of weapons. Think civil war reenactment afficionados but with swords instead of cannons.
So, since the guys in the video were all dressed like old knights, and carrying live weapons, I'd assume it's non-larp, but creative reenactment style stuff.

>SCA: live weapons and armor, no magic.
Not perfectly true. They're padded, but certainly no nerf bats. Those bleepers hurt. The SCA is run on an honor system, in which you "die" when you feel a blow through your armor you feel is sufficient. So they're just padded enough to remove most injuries, but hard enough that the guy in plate mail still knows you kicked his butt.
>I'm told they require metal armor to join in for user-protection
Not quite accurate. You can get by with real leather armor (stiff leather plates) but they definitely have rules on minimum armor. Metal armor is more common in my area, because it's easier to make.
Now there is some elements that cross over with LARP, such as having a character, though they tend to be rigorously and scarily well researched. I know two people who got historical doctorates as part of their character research (not JUST for that, but still).
SCA people are crazy sometimes.
