Guild Advocate/Development 08/22/2015 11:04 PM CDT
I know I'm not saying/posting anything that hasn't probably been stated hundreds of times; however, do we even have a guild advocate/staff member assigned to guild development. I know the answer will probably be "soon" but that will at least give me a sense of hope however misplaced that something Rangerly will be released well.....soon. I know there is always an outcry for more development of all the guilds but someone please, please, please take a look at our guild it getting very discouraging.

Gross. That's gross. You're gross.

Rangers, paladins, and to a lesser extent Bards are on a short list to have their guild skill abilities looked at. I can't recall exactly how it dovetails with Trader magic and the warding update, but iirc those three things are the highest priorities right now.

What I don't understand is that Rangers consistently are in the world at higher levels whenever they release the login stats.
10% of the world are rangers at any given time, yet they do not get ANY development AT ALL.

My guess has always been the general complaining attitude in the Rangers forums has turned off GMs from getting excited enough to make the effort.

Before my break, when I played my thief, thieves never got dev. And it was ranger realms. I find it oddly amusing that the tables have been turned.

On the flip side though, DR dev is cyclical. You just have to give it time.

You hear the distant echo of a savage Horde snarling in barbaric disapproval of your deeds.

Best skillset ever, who needs dev!

This statement includes myself, but I'm guessing vocal players on the forums aren't necessarily a reflection of the general player base's mindset at all. That probably also includes the dissatisfaction expressed on the forums over whichever guild isn't being given enough attention.

Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

I feel like if this was true nothing would ever get done.

Armifer actually said that in another topic. Now, before you think I'm slamming him, he qualified it and said it hasn't ever effected him. But that it makes him seriously consider it.

I'd refine that to say it's never consciously affected me -- as in, I did not sit down and said "Screw the Rangers, I will cancel all development for them and bake cookies instead."

In terms of how it affected my mood and responsiveness and other affective things, I can't say.

I might be getting ahead of myself here, but I think any lack of DEV might also be because most of the ranger systems are complex and complicated.
You might be able to do some spell DEV somewhat easily, but the companions and beseeches are a complex coding situation...so I've heard.

I'd personally be happy with just some spell DEV. Or some tweaking with maybe a ranger bonus to certain crafts (even though they are tert in lore, but should have a natural ability to work with natural materials such as bone, wood, and leather.

Companions are waiting on the core pet system too, aren't they? So that's another issue.

I don't think it's necessarily the complexity. More a shifting in priorities, waiting for core systems to be built, and shuffling of staff.

I think companions were originally slotted to be reworked with necromancer pets, warrior mage pets, and empath pets. So ranger pets got pushed back waiting for the core system. I believe they were waiting on Risen to be the back bone for that system, but that idea for risen was dropped into it's new idea (igor). So now there may or not be someone working on that particular core system (if they even want to combine any more.) And now it's about limited dev resources and lists a mile long of things to do.

I can't remotely begin imagine what it was like after Socharis passed. The GMs have a lot on their plate.

Igor is from that same core pet system that will be modular. So once core let us finished GMs can write pet modules as needed. E.g. combat pet, item storage, etc.
