After playing around in 3.0 I don't mind most of the changes but one just has me totally stumped. When compost was rewritten as dual use I could see why then the mana boost portion was removed. But now that the spell is back to it's original form could we not get the mana boost put back in. It just makes sense and actually keeps use for the spell.

It was said at one point that mana boosters would be a perk of the magic primes. I don't know if this is still true.

The thing with compost is, without the mana boost, it does the same thing as our beseech. Who wants to waste a spell slot on a spell that has no use. Not to mention, who wants a spell that uses a spell slot to clean a room? This spell needs to go away completely.

NOT! Just please let us be able to raise mana with compost. I can't count the number of times I have been able to help empaths with mana when they couldn't (to tired or whatever) get their spells to work.

On on level there seems to be a push to make this game more social. The above scenario works for that.

I really liked compost when it was a TM/Utility hybrid.

I'll have to agree with Falk on this, the spell itself is pretty meh when it comes to what it does, the diffence is it teaches utility. who wants to collect 500 things and pick them up and drop them just to get to 3/34 that's my concern.

That's not how it trains. You just need to cast it at your personal cap.

the fact that it's the only way to train utility is ridiculous... it's a waste of our precious spell slots in that, because it duplicates a beseech, it's completely useless. It would be nice, and I think reasonable, to get the mana boost back and keep it. But GM's please hear this, I don't want to have to have this spell in order to get any other spell. I'd rather use that slot for a feat or a spell that has value. I'm really truly hoping this is just a stopgap while something else is in the mix.

Just to end on a positive note. Stampede is a hoot, great coding. I still cringe at needing all this magic exp in order to be functional but it is fun stuff.
