Togball 04/09/2006 02:22 AM CDT
To my great embarrassment, I have never played Togball in game. I'm looking for some folks to help me out by explaining the rules that were used for the formals games I heard about a couple years back. Email me at my play addy or IM me at RAIST56922.

Tanks!

Togball Call! 05/21/2006 12:25 PM CDT
As it is now summer for me and I possess a great deal more time, I will begin a project I have been meaning to for a while.

I am going to revive the Togball league. In order to do this horribly time consuming and soul crushing endevor, I'm going to need folks help. At the moment, I'm only looking to put together two teams, the Tiger Clan and Knife Clan teams, which will require having this odd sort of people called players. Due to tradition, the players themselves must be Gor'Tog, but I don't see any reason not to open the other non-field positions to any race.

So if you have an interest in playing, managing or being the ball, feel free to contact me at my play addy.

I'm definitely up for some togball. Also, if you're feeling brave and want to try and start the lodges again, I'm interested in that too.

Togball Field 06/21/2006 04:10 PM CDT
Would someone mind helping me figure out the commands and special abilities of the Tiger Clan Togball Field? I've found out JOIN FIELD makes the item in your right hand the ball, but that's all I can seem to locate.

Thanks.

Oh, and if you're interested in joining the Togball League, lemmie know.

For those who don't know what Togball is, imagine soccer crossed with hockey, using a living ball, and free to use hands. It gets..... interesting.

This was an old post from Roderigo:

Boss Ortug is proud to announce the grand opening of the Tiger Clan Togball Field.

I will now lapse into OOC language because I'm way too tired to be clever.

There are a couple of mechanics to allow spectators to watch the game. The rules of the game itself are up to the 'Togs playing it. I know some of you have put a lot of effort into that already. The following is really pretty simple, but again, I'm tired enough that this will probably sound insanely complicated. I'm relying on the fact that most of the players of 'Togs are a lot smarter than their characters <g>.

The official Togball can be either a) an object or b) a person of any race other than Gor'Tog. Only one official Togball can be in play at once. To register the object in his/her right hand as the official Togball, a Gor'Tog should JOIN FIELD. Similarly, to volunteer to be the official Togball, a non-Gor'Tog person should JOIN FIELD. In either case, this must be done from one of the five sideline rooms from which the field of play is visible. After JOIN FIELD happens, the ball must go onto the field of play within 1 minute, or the guards will decide to wait for another ball. If the ball leaves the field of play it will cease to be the official ball.

Anyone who is in one of those same five middle rooms along the sideline will be able to watch the action, wherever the Togball goes within the field of play. If you are already in a spectator room when the ball enters play, you will automatically see everything that happens around the ball. If you enter the area after the ball has entered the field of play, you will still see what happens as soon as it moves, but if you'd like to watch immediately, WATCH MATCH will allow you to do so. There is no command to stop watching; as soon as you leave the spectator area, that will happen automatically.

By the way, the field of play is intended to be 'Tog-only, with the exception of the ball, if applicable. For some reason, despite the fact that this worked for months with no problems in testing, everyone is currently able to enter the field of play, even if they aren't signed up as the ball. Fortunately, this doesn't prevent the field from being used or the spectator feature from working. Just FYI though, the field will revert to 'Tog-only soon. Everyone, regardless of race, will always be able to access the sideline/spectator area.

Enjoy!

The rules for pickup games are rather...lax which can result in quite a lot of injuries and death.

The more official rules are in a book in the estate holder clubhouse within Crossing.

We welcome any volunteer balls with the understanding we cannot in any way insure you live through the match.

As for rules, we're going to go with most of them from the book as well as anything else that seems resonable. For example, I think I'd like to see less death and more fun, so we're talking about limiting combat to brawling only....

Anyways, we're still looking for players too.

I should have posted this earlier, but better late then never.

Ortug has challenged Trog for the trophy that was stolen many years ago. At some undisclosed time, there will be a Togball match at Tiger Clan field to determine the winner.

Togball Grudge Match Rules 09/15/2007 02:26 AM CDT
The rules for the Tiger Clan v. Knife Clan grudge match are as follows.

RULES:

1. Teams representing Tiger Clan and Knife clan are comprised of Gor'Togs who have previously registered as players.

2. Each team is made up of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 players, with 5 players from each team being the most allowed on the field at any time.

3. One of the active players must reach the team bench before a substitute may enter the field. Too many on the field at one time will result in the other team being awarded a point and resetting of the ball.

4. The object of the game is to score goals by dragging the ball through the opposing blood zone. This is accomplished by dragging the ball from the "Blood Zone" to "Behind the Goal." The point will not be scored if the ball is dragged to "Behind the Goal" from either the "Attack Zone" or "Behind the Goal Line" areas. The team with the most goals when time expires wins.

* The ball is being provided by Knife Clan
* The Official is the only person who may declare a goal. They have the ultimate authority in interpretation of the rules.

5. The ball begins play in the middle of the field. It also goes back to midfield after each goal is scored.

6. The ball should remain prone except when walking back to the middle of the field after a goal is scored.

7. Each game lasts 20 minutes. The timer is continuous and play only stops after a goal is scored. After each goal, the ball is reset back at midfield by the Offical and play resumes at the

8. If the game is tied after 20 minutes, there is sudden death overtime. The next goal wins.

9. In this particular match, no use of weapons is allowed however the use of TACKLE is permitted as a means to hinder the advancement of the opposing players.

10. No "buffs" are permitted (spells, roars, khris, glyphs, dances, etc.). This means both that none may be in effect on any of the players when play begins and none may be invoked during play. The use of any such abilities will result in the ejection of the player by the Judge. If the player refuses to leave or returns into play, their team is disqualified.

It was fun to watch, but hard to tell what exactly was going on. If you have more of these, and I hope you do, maybe you could give temporary titles to each team.

You see: Knife Kolasia, Tiger Eeary, Togball Vehn

Also, thank you for stopping the game to get the stands working properly. It would have been disappointing to miss all of it. All in all great job.

We wanted to give titles to those who were a part of it beforehand, but we ran a bit late due to a few things not entirely in our control.

I've got to give a big thanks to all of those involved. It was our first run at something like this and it was admittedly a bit rough around the edges. We had a few minor snafus that had to be cleared up, but things seemed to go smoothly (trust me, it was as confusing for us as it was for you) from what I saw.

I do hope all those who attended enjoyed themselves. It was a lot larger crowd than I anticipated!

Again, thank you all for putting up with the minor rough patches as well as for making it an enjoyable event. :)

Thanks to everyone who came out to play or watch. I hope you all had fun. We did have a few technical issues, more because the situation was a little different than what we were used to from the Kaith Kirm games than due to anything not actually working. If/when we do this again, we've learned some things which should help everything go more smoothly. First time I've actually seen the ball die, even if it did have a little help...

was pretty cool. I definitely was confused at first. I look forward to future matches. Couple suggestions if you're open to em

TACKLE didn't work unless you advanced. Tried on Kiam :)

don't allow the ball to be dragged until the word GO.

maybe a violent Togball only maneuver to inflict pain/harm on the other team. No skill check, just make it random so all can play at equal levels

overall it was great. count me in for the next time

I think it was confusing for everyone: players, GMs, and spectators. But now that I'm much more acquainted with the rules and how it's played, I can't wait for another game!

Hope the next match is sometime soon! Tiger Clan needs revenge!
