This is primarily aimed at Evike, but I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who feels he/she definitively knows.

Are Snow Elves from Ilithi, Zoluren, or Qi?

Different sources each claim mountains and tundra. I can see why people might pick Qi, but Aesry Surlaenis'a was populated by S'Kra Murs and seemingly didn't receive Elotheans and Elves until after the Human-Elven War / War of Tears. I would think a) Snow Elves predate that war b) the S'Kra Murs wouldn't have allowed a clan to just split off and take over part of the island c) it contradicts the descriptions of the island's history. For example, "the people of Surlaenis took the time to create a unique culture from a fusion of Elothean, Elven, and S'kra Mur elements." d) the island is primarily described as tropical, with only a small portion of it being snow-covered mountains.

I've always assumed they were from the mountains bordering Ilithi and Forf, because it's snowy and frozen year round. There's also the area on the Ilithi and Zoluren border that's named for tundra. The nimbi hunting grounds are called The Frozen Heavens, Tranquil Tundra. To me, it makes much more sense for the Snow Elves to be from somewhere mainland rather than the islands, considering all of the clans originated (though this is probably arguable) from the forest, which may imply Leth. Also, I think Anoushka may be right. There's no mention that I can find of any race other than S'Kra on Surlaenis until after the War of Tears, and the clans predate that by thousands of years.

Full disclosure, I haven't decided where I would put the Snow Elf main clan home. However, based on the history of Qi, I can say they did not originate there, though its not out of the question that there are NOW groups of Snow Elves there.
