Hints of the future theology of the Paladin's guild 12/16/2009 04:22 AM CST
I believe that, by design, The Paladin Guild has long been defined by our abilities and spells we wield... and the restrictions placed upon us in using them. The limted scope of having only one theology, one view of the world and what is a "rightous" existence has hindered many a roleplay style and successful career of Paladins throughout the guild's existence.

Perhaps, this may one day change...

Perhaps we will see considerations of not only serving light or dark aspects of Gods... but serving all of them... or maybe even... none of them at all.

To me, A Paladin in DR is a guardian, protector and servitor. A powerful warrior well versed in defense and balanced with competent offense. A Paladin has "reason" for his actions... and defines his person by his actions. He is firm and steadfast... unrelenting and passionate in his endeavors. He ackknowledges his weaknesses and strives to achieve his best at whatever he is doing. A Paladin considers not only himself, but his group, his breatheren, and even his enemies in regards to their place in the world. To a Paladin, all things have purpose... and if all things have purpose... then all things have some worth, even if that means being worthy to die by his hand. A Paladin is rightous, and never need hide his intent with shadows and stealth, although he may find it neccisary to help lead those who have gone astray from the true path by using the methods that are most effective. A Paladin is never a "puppet" and is disgraced when he allows outside inflences to corrupt his intent and understanding. A Paladin leads by exhibiting a "shining example" of dedication to guarding, protecting, and serving the Theology he undertakes, and his role in the world.
