Anyone able to cap a shield? 01/07/2007 08:03 PM CST

This is an appraisal from the shield forums:

You are certain that the crocodile-skin buckler is a little stronger than the iron shield.
You are certain that the crocodile-skin buckler is a little harder to maneuver with than the iron shield.
You are certain that the crocodile-skin buckler has about as good of a basic defense as the iron shield.
You are certain that the crocodile-skin buckler has a higher full defense than the iron shield.
You are confident that the crocodile-skin buckler weighs less than the iron shield.

I was referred here in hopes of getting a good tanned shield from one of the new patterns from Boar Clan, preferrably a buckler similar to the one you see above.

Are there any of you Paladins who would be able to help me, please? I am looking for one that is at least fairly sturdy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll give it a try... I tried garg shields about 100 or so ranks in skinning ago, they were decent, I don't have any apps though. Any chance you can get a pile of perfect croc skins? If not, I'll ask around.

Oh, I'm in P5 at present.

Yeah I wouldn't use garg hides for the buckler... it doesn't seem to turn out so well.

Those are some of the apps I have for various pattern/skin combos if you wanna take a look or contribute some, I'm always looking for more data.

Low to good is better than rather low to high, correct?

If so, I need a gargoyle buckler. If I were to find a few perfect gargoyle skins would there be anyone with high enough shield to create one of these?

No. High is a better protection range than good.

There isn't a combat application in DR where anyone would care about the bottom range of an appraisal. I have a one speculation on the significance of low range, but I really don't care about it enough to discuss or test.

Wouldn't low end be applicable to stunned, prone or badly balanced situations? I'll go lie down in crocs with a few different shields :o) Curious now...

Shoot well trying to track down Slaris is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Is there anyone else who is good at tanning the new template shields?

Yeah, I've been around at night. Didn't catch an email or IM though.

Slaris is in P5, but I've moved my MM over, so getting to Xing isn't terrible. I will be around tonight a little, but can play almost all day tommorow (Yay vacation day for a 4 day weekend!). When are you playing? We'll get this done.
