No lorica will be able to compare to an equally well-crafted chain shirt just by nature of the armor pattern. The only reason I can think to use a lorica would be to use more armor-types, and in that situation you're much better off just switching out armors than sacrificing all that protection just to be wearing 5 at once. Or wearing a difference armor on the chest/back/abs.
