New to the Guild so have some questions. ..
How actions exactly other than outright thievery damage our souls? I used FLEE to prevent getting killed did that harm me? It said I chose dishonor before death lol! Also are the skills the guild leader said possible choices in those skillsets (survival etc) or do we have to train those exact skills as our secondary survival etc (I really don't want to grind lockpicking with a 2nd character - I want him to be different)! Thanks in advance

I would read this entire article, but in response to your specific question, see "Reducing soul state."
The RETREAT command has no effect on your soul, but using FLEE does tarnish the soul. Mechanically speaking, fleeing and taking a small soul hit is better than dying. You can recover your soul by performing the actions listed in "Improving soul state." In particular, I recommend getting a pilgrim's badge ASAP and adding as many shrines as you can reasonably reach. (A complete pilgrim's badge offers one of the best soul boosts in the game.)

With the exception of evasion, all of our survival requirements are Nth requirements. This means that you may train any other four other survival skills (except thievery, which harms your soul and puts you in bad standing with the guild).
If you haven't yet started training enough skills, the guildleader just starts making up his own suggestions for Nth skill requirements. Feel free to choose your own.
