Just thought it was funny, ironically was the first one shot spell kill I've ever done, was a Viv at about 40, but regardless a funny description.

The mana you were holding contributes to the spell.
You flicker your malevolent desires towards a swamp troll, summoning invisible blades to strike at it with the merest thought.
You are convinced that your casting went unobserved.
A swamp troll's ethereal shield crackles with energy!
With no warning or explanation, a swamp troll's head suddenly explodes into a mass of tiny, neatly carved chunks of flesh and bone. Spurts of crimson blood from the neck's stump stain the surrounding scenery as the rest of its corpse topples to stay deathly still.
A swamp troll falls dead to the ground with a squishy thud.
The shimmering ethereal shield fades from around a swamp troll.
Roundtime: 1 second.

wasn't targeted at head, that was a pleasant surprise, but is the perfect head-shot.
now if only we could viv from a room away, then we'd be real snipers.

Our spells have some pretty awesome messaging, I am really looking forward to the new spells because of this.

Not to diminish the awesomeness of Necro TM spell messaging, but I've found that most spells made in the last two/three years have pretty sweet descriptions.

Thankfully, a lot of those spells are Necro spells!

It seems viv ALWAYS has a head-shot kill message, as does ACS. The damage is not restricted to the head, so you can 1-hit kill a critter to the chest and get a head message.

You try, but in the cramped confines of the tunnel, there's just no room to do that.

This is incorrect. When it comes to torso-kills, the messaging is the same for abdomen/back/chest, but it's not the same as head or neck.

A cacophonous keening wail erupts as a kobold's body is quickly quartered through the back by some invisible slashing force. Each chunk of the now lifeless body falls with wet thuds to the ground as blood quickly stains the area around them.
A kobold wails, spins in a circle, and drops dead.

A kobold whimpers one last time and dies.

As the spasmodic glob engulfs its chest, a forceful plume of crimson steam is ejected from the cavity created by dissolving organs and pitted bone. At last the chest falls apart entirely, to be absorbed into the growing puddle of foamy flesh on the floor.
A side-striped jackal howls and falls on its side, dead.

that may indeed be the case for viv, but for blb, it seems as if its always a head shot messaging when things die:

You swipe your fingertips over your left eye, collecting blood on them.
You sense your magic mutate the blood with terrifying power and, with a simple flick of your wrist,
send the incarnadine droplets hurtling towards a fledgling forest gryphon!
Detonating in monstrous, deep crimson fire,
each incarnadine droplet takes a chunk of the forest gryphon's face along with it,
igniting small chain reactions in its wake that leave a mostly melted and hemorrhaging blob atop the neck that somehow barely holds together.
A fledgling forest gryphon collapses into a lifeless mound of fur and feathers.
Roundtime: 1 second.

You swipe your fingertips over your left eye, collecting blood on them.
You sense your magic mutate the blood with terrifying power and, with a simple flick of your wrist,
send the incarnadine droplets hurtling towards a young forest gryphon!
Slamming into the young forest gryphon's face with terrible ferocity,
each droplet ignites in an immense explosion of incarnadine flames,
combusting skin and bone with merciless efficiency.
All the blood remaining that fails to evaporate instantly sparks multiple further explosions,
leaving a brief torch of raging, deep crimson flames in place of where the head should be.

That's also wrong.

Hell, one of the most amusing BLB death messages is the one used in the ePedia entry, because it reminds me of the way enemies can explode in FPS games like Fallout:

<Caster> swipes his fingertips over his bleeding tail, collecting blood on them.
The blood on <Caster>'s hand seems to burble and shift before he flicks his wrist to send the incarnadine droplets hurtling towards <Target>!
The incarnadine droplets meld together mid-flight before ramming fully into his chest. For the barest moment, nothing seems to happen, then with a terrible roar the mass detonates into an immense pyre of dark crimson flames. <Target>'s chest is incinerated instantly, and the disparate parts of his corpse are propelled in multiple directions by the ensuing concussive blast. The pyre of malefic fire lingers in midair for several seconds before finally dying out.

How does a BB fired at a man facing you make half his chest and his right arm explode towards you?

The world may never know.

<<How does a BB fired at a man facing you make half his chest and his right arm explode towards you?>>

physics.

if you drop a pebble in a pond from directly above, some of the water will splash "up" by simple replacement.

The same thing holds for a bullet. Some of the blood spatter will splat back in the direction that the bullet is fired, whereas the projectile itself will either inbed itself in the victim or continue on its path thru the victim and lodge into some other surface behind the victim.

So Bloodburst pretty much works on the same theory as a projectile weapon. That bust hits the victim. The only difference is... from the attackers perspective, you don't "see" the blood that splashes towards his spine, you only see the blood spatter that is coming out towards you.

Blood burst is also known to either transmute the targets blood or be fueled by it which often causes chain reactions as can be seen in some of the spell's messaging. So its entirely possible that the target explodes from the inside in some instances.
