Coming back after a very long break and hoping folks can give me an idea of what spells I need to pick up early to make sure I have what I need to train the different magic skills/astro etc. I assume PG is a given, but not sure after that with all the changes.

CV then PG to make sure you can train astrology.
After those, TKT CALM and Psychic Shield to make sure you can train all of your magic skills.

Shadows is great for stealth if you are going to train combats (and you should)

After you have those you can pick your spells to work towards what sounds fun to you.
