moonblade duration 08/05/2015 08:12 PM CDT
I know persistent moonblades are off the table, at least not without additional restrictions but is there any chance of changing the duration of moonblade from that of a standard spell (10-40 minutes) to that of a ritual spell (30-90 minutes)?

Do monks of the crystal hand get 90 minute duration? Moonblade is their affinity spell. The rest of the sects get a 90 minute duration spell. Not that this is entirely helpful since there is no way to change sects right now.

I believe the monk perk relates to the stats of the moonblade rather than the duration.

So that said, I support this change.

The monk perk is obtaining the tier boost to moonblade stats at a lower power level of the moon. I.e. they get better tiered weapons more often than other moon mages.

Hmmm. I could potentially turn it into a ritual spell... but I don't think that'd be a popular change.

Would it be possible to refresh without once again invoking?

Maybe a meta spell to increase moonblade duration? Or better yet, I'd like to see a spell feat that increases the duration of buffs for maybe 2 slots.

I wasn't talking about making it a ritual spell, but just giving it a ritual spell's duration. There's lots of precedence for standard spells that aren't skill/stat buffs to have longer durations. E.g. shadowling, focus moonbeam, etc. An extended duration doesn't impact anything except the convenience of maintaining it's existence as a weapon. EMMO requires a new moonblade be cast after it is used, for example, so there's no additional benefit there from an increased duration.

I have some thoughts on EMMO and some other moonblade projects in the works. Let's see how those pan out and then revisit.
