Any chance this won't go away? It's such a clutch spell.

It's been stated since it allows us to bypass survival skill checks entirely, it will be going away. Don't think that decision is likely to change.

Nothing and I mean nothing about this spell is clutch. I went through 80, close to 90, circles without ever once knowing this spell. I only picked it because I was running out of things I wanted and thought it'd be neat.

I rarely use it other than convenience, and in most cases its more the case of moving a beam from inside a hunting ground to outside and putting contingency on it, than it is any other function.

A clutch spell would be focus moonbeam.

I had shift moonbeam before it was cool. I loved it then. I love it now. I'll miss it later.

This is as a non-moon mage, but to show that this is possible (of only 30 circles).

I was (I hope turtling or whatever using the turtle isn't, by using the term giving away in game secrets), to Throne City. Without any escorts, while within Throne City, and having never venturing into the area, and but with a map, and a small understanding of the dangerous... let's call it pit fall. I was able to get to Fade, gather what I hoped to acquire from that area, and exit out of that area, without one depart nor death. I also was able to get back to Crossing, or was I in Riverhaven then, or Shard, whatever I got back to my normal place unaided (took a long time).

I do think that we should be able to help each other out, and I'm all for more adventuring of that sort.

I do highly dislike the pitfall room, from certain logs I've seen of characters dying I have little understanding how it isn't auto death. But certain people think encumbrance of none is extremely helpful, and as such my characters will stay far away because they have a hard time staying away from the higher burdens.

I think it is clutch for all us non-moonmages. Interestingly enough, I think it hurts other folks more than moonmages. Just my take anyway.

This is actually something I've been thinking about.

Shortly after I started my moon mage someone asked me to locate someone. My thought was, "oh, cool. Someone needs my special ability". The truth was I was used by someone.

Maybe after shift moonbeam goes away it will be one less way I'm "used".

Not by you, Madigan. I'll gladly help whenever I can.

Ohh, I completely understand your thoughts on that topic. I always pay very well for services, but I really abuse my moon mage friends with requests. Add to this, I even own a boat. In short, very..very fair point.

I think you might be taking this a tad far, your making it seem like... well I can't really say without getting my post deleted, but anyway, after playing a barbarian for almost 14 years now (give or take a year) its nice to play a moonie who can actually offer someone something.... other than an empath of course, my barbarian is and always will be an empaths best friend.

On my warrior mage, I sometimes find myself missing the times when people would seek out one of us to locate others.
