Giving hair to a bald person 10/11/2012 03:16 PM CDT
Just met with GM Naohhi who suggested i come to forums and have this looked
into. Have a friend who plays a bald character, who would now like to have
hair. I tried with my empath, circle 75, but she could not do. So went
to our friend Heartsfyre who thought she could, but discovered she
also could not. Could this ability please be entered into the
shift system? Perhaps a note put into the Character Manager before first
coming into realms, allowing a person to know that if Bald, he'll not
be able to ever have hair. Since something big like having one's gender
changed is available, would think getting some hair on a bald head would
be much easier......Thanks for your kind perusal.

I'd like to add to this as I see it's nothing that's been addressed since it's been posted.

Giving hair to someone who is currently bald is something that should be added as an option.

Thank you!

What message does it get when you try to do it?

I have given bald people who are not S'Kra or Togs hair before. Be sure they also have a hair color set.

Last time I checked, if you choose bald in the Character Manager, it won't prompt you to choose a hair color.

Sark is correct. And when attempting the shift, it said that he'sa bald dwarf so why start having hair now, or something. I'll have to look it up later when I'm back in game.

Well, you are able to give the bald hair, but not change their hair color.

>shift TESTSUBJECT hair color grey
You cannot modify TESTSUBJECT's hair if he doesn't have any.
>shift TESTSUBJECT hair longer
You cannot modify TESTSUBJECT's hair if he doesn't have any.
>shift TESTSUBJECT hair length longer
Gathering what strength you can, you focus your thoughts on altering TESTSUBJECT's hair, and with a slight jerk, you notice him noticing your efforts.

TESTSUBJECT has pointed ears and almond-shaped green eyes. He is bald, with tanned skin.

<NAME> is a Dwarf. He doesn't have any hair at all, so why should he start now?

You see <NAME>, a Dwarf.
<NAME> has a round face, amber eyes and a bulbous nose. He is bald, with copper skin and a brawny build.

I suspect the new character generator may be setting folks up for cases of permanent baldness. If you don't mind BUGging it (if it has not already been bugged) that would be helpful for tracking purposes.

As to the guy who is now permanently bald, if you assist a GameMaster ought to be able to fix you until I can put in a permanent solution. Not everyone is comfortable messing around in the features system, but they should be able to round up someone who is.
