He was retired.
After the link with Lyras that Asrea was used for, he lost his empathy. He attempted to do the shock quest with the seed from Nadigo, but it was not restored. He actually convinced another empath to shock themselves numb and then try, and they were successful. ( Several empaths have been able to complete the quest, i have started it 3 times, but i keep forgetting and killing people, oops. I am at the end of my 3rd attempt though.)
Being a Moda with no empathy is kind of a contradiction and they decided that it was time for him to retire. Now, there is an opening. There are names that have been floated, and my goal is not to influence who people vote for to replace him, just convince the guild that the empaths should be given the opportunity to choose the person they feel best reflects the guild as a whole.
