Spell suggestions 05/05/2015 10:24 AM CDT


* Innocence, but for undead. It makes you "invisible" to them. Casting on others extends the effect. Moving away from the cleric will cancel it.

* Meta spell that provides the opposite effect. It makes you visible to the undead and acts as a pulsing taunt.

* Soul rend (High sorcery): Esoteric curse. Bad things if you cast this in a justice area. Tanks devotion and hinders the ability to gain it again (think what happens if you fail the MF quest). Severs the connection of your victim to the gods, effectively rendering them cursed (think the same effects as a high level necro), making the victim(s) susceptible to holy magic as if they were undead. They aren't undead, so the gods aren't pissed, they're just not amused at your actions.

* Soul Split (High sorcery): Esoteric curse, but self-cast. You turn yourself incorporeal. You're now especially susceptible to holy magics, but your body is a hinderance. If it dies, you can continue fighting so long as the spell remains. You're immune to stuns. You're immune to balance lost. Corporeal weapons can't hurt you (but you can't use them either). Your spell casting is immune to the effects of detrimental health effects. When the spell ends, expect a lengthy stun and possible death. Your body is lying at your feet and can still be attacked. You just aren't in it. Knowing soul split allows you to use rend offensively to cause the same effect to your foe. That will piss off the gods. Expect bad things to happen when they get around to punishing you.

* Berengeria's guidance (commune): You turn another player into a bastion of light. Everyone in the area can see in dark rooms. Undead attacking them are burned with fire damage. They can sacrifice the bodies of undead in an attempt to gain a favor (can't be skinned or looted, cap on the number of favors in x amount of hours, not a high chance). Of course, that's only if you're aligned to a light deity. Neutral deity is the same effect, but weaker and only self-cast. Evil Deity is the opposite effect. Rooms the person is in is now a dark room. Living attacking them are "burned" with cold-based shadow attacks. Sacrifice living bodies in an attempt to gain favor. Perhaps a vitality hit each time you fail.

* Soul link: You can cast spells through a vigil link. Rejuvenate. MPP. Bless. Divine Radience (positive effects). With a LOT of skill, rezz.

* Spirit walk: Separate your soul from your body (it still collapses). Your spirit can a ghost can do, except you can also wonder around. You can "meld" with someone to create a vigil link (see soul link) (you return to your body). Moon mages can beacon your spirit to cast a moonbeam at your location. With infuse, you can cast this spell while dead.

Was that ever a thing? I remember soul beacon, but I thought that was removed because it wasn't fulfilling it's intended purpose.

Rejuve, Soul Bond and Soul Shield could be cast through a vigil link.

Spirit Beacon was different. It allowed a Moon Mage to focus a Moonbeam on a dead body after the Cleric cast it on them.

Looks like it's probably still possible. From the 3.0 page "Certain spiritual spells may be cast through this conduit, even if you are not in the same vicinity as the target, or the target is concealed." Haven't tried it in awhile.

Definitely possible. I do it a lot. Toss a vigil on a corpse and go to a better mana room to rejuve and infuse rezz somewhat. Then go raise. The color of the memories shows up when you cast so you can even be sure you've reached silver (but maybe recast just for duration after that, since you can't see it slip from afar).

I'd like to see infusion aid come back. Infusing someone else's rezz pattern to help them see hard-to-find spirits more easily.
