Beta of New Power Perceive (room casters only) 05/22/2009 01:37 AM CDT
Just a note, this is Beta version only. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be worked out still (namely all of moon mages, and if we're going to make Bardic messaging more aurally based like it used to be).

NOTE: IF YOU ARE A MOON MAGE NOTHING HAS CHANGED, YOU CANNOT TEST ANYTHING WITH A MM CHAR.

There's a new Power Perception system in place in Test.

Major points:

- Adjacent rooms no longer provide mana. INSTEAD, mana in all rooms is raised based upon your Power Perception skill. The assumption is that areas around you exist whether the Worlds team decided to create them or not.

- Primaries get the fastest boost to mana, Secondaries slightly slower, Tertiaries slightly more slower.

- Adjacent room sensing still exists at 100 ranks, and the comparisons will actually be correct! If it says less mana then by Jove there is actually less mana.

- At 300 ranks, you get direct feedback of mana levels instead of comparisons.

- Room based mana boosts have been capped. The cap is more generous if you can't see much mana yet in that room, but you will always be able to raise the mana several levels with boosters. Meraud's Commune may end up being immune to this cap because it's special.

- The mana levels have changed. Also, at low levels of PP, you will get smaller and smaller scales, so that new players don't have to memorize as many levels.

There are 4 types of states.

Weak, Developing, Improving, normal (normal is what you all are used to)

Example:
>conce
You reach out with your weak senses and see bright streams of deep green and blue Life mana flowing through the area.
Roundtime: 9 sec.

Weak Senses: 3 mana levels

1) Dim
2) Glowing
3) Bright

Developing Senses: 5 mana levels

1) faint
2) muted
3) glowing
4) luminous
5) bright

Improving Senses: 9 mana levels

1) faint
2) hazy
3) flickering
4) shimmering
5) glowing
6) lambent
7) shining
8) fulgent
9) glaring

Normal Senses: 21 mana levels

1) faint
2) dim
3) hazy
4) dull
5) muted
6) dusky
7) pale
8) flickering
9) shimmering
10) pulsating
11) glowing
12) lambent
13) shining
14) luminous
15) radiant
16) fulgent
17) brilliant
18) flaring
19) glaring
20) blazing
21) blinding

In addition, the lower mana levels are a little more palatable than they used to be for casting spells.

This is Beta, which means we're kind of happy with it but want number feedback (very similar to Exp), we're not sure if we're happy with the exact values yet, so no sharing with non-Testers because we're not quite solid on things yet.

This most likely won't be going out until Moon Mages are on the system too, but at least not until their mana levels are in line with everyone else's. When we open up new Exp testing in open Testing we'll probably revert this back out if it isn't ready.
